Good morning! I started eating real food this weekend. I know I'm not supposed to yet but I'm leaving for a cruise next week and I wanted to see if I could tolerate it. I had some grilled chicken breast. It did taste good. I chewed it a lot and ate slowly. So far no problems.

Has anyone else skipped ahead to real food yet? I was banded on Oct. 12th.

I was banded on Oct 14th... My doctor only required 1week of liquids. At my 1 week post-op appt I was cleared to eat regular food. No mushies. He just told me to start with softer foods and gradually increase to regular food. I have been doing great... Things like rotisserie chicken, baked talapia, tuna salad, crab salad, lots of eggs, broccoli... Just to name a few. I hope you have fun and enjoy your cruise.

I have started on a few soft foods too. I had chicken and broccoli in white sauce. scrambled eggs w a little turkey sausage. Fish with peas. I only do it for dinner and have liquids or mushies for Breakfast and lunch. I keep it at 1/2-1 cup for all of it. I bought some of those lunch tuna kits that have spices, and some exotic Soups with lentils and black Beans and such to try next. One thing that I have done to help with my full force hunger pains is a few bites of banana. I end up eating only 1 whole one through the day. It has helped me not fridge surf if you know what I mean!

I was banded Oct 12. I initially had more pain than I had anticipated mostly due to the fact that I had a large hematoma behind one of my insicions. I am happy to report that tomorrow will be my two week mark and I am feeling great. I am VERY hungry but otherwise I have more energy and no pain. I am so excited each morning as I step on the scales and I see it moving down. I can't wait to keep up with all of you and learn from your experiences.

Hi! My doctor told me I would be on regular food by my cruise but didn't want to wait. I guess I should call the office and see if it's ok to start this soon. I was just worried I would get on the ship and not be able to eat anything but mush!

I'm now Day 12 Post-Op and my wife is Day 6 Post-Op.

I started work yesterday and it was challenging, but I made it through. No one at work knows I've had the surgery. Today seems to be better, but I can't wait to feel 100% normal. I get to start Mushies in two days and am excited to eat some semi-normal food.

My main two problems are back pain (especially after eating) and stomach swelling. My stomach is so swollen that none of my belts fit. I hate wearing pants without a belt and I don't want to buy new ones either. I fear that it may take another 2-3 weeks for my stomach swelling to subside. Overall, I feel excited about having the Lapband. The first few days and weeks are not fun, but I know they will be worth it!

My wife felt much better yesterday. She is still suffering from back pain, but is taking the pain medicine to combat it. She is seeing the Doctor on Thursday for her follow up.

Boy - what a difference a week makes! On to regular food, and I am able to eat everything I have tried so far, unfortunately. After being in such bad pain and having to get an emergency "unfill" on 10/8, I can't wait until my appointment on 11/1 to get a fill! Mornings are OK, as I can tell that my stomach is more swollen, therefore feel more restricted and can't eat as much. But evening is BAD - hungry and no restricted feeling whatsoever. I NEED that fill - I am down 20 lbs. and don't want to go back up this week.

No pain or issues anymore. Only thing I feel is pressure at the port site whenever I have to lean over, reach out for the car door to shut it, etc. Doctor said it isn't the port I am feeling, but the swelling/scar tissue. The sample port he showed me is tiny - about the size of a dime, I am guessing, so I can't imagine it is that I am feeling.

That is good news (the lack of pain). I am 15 days post surgery and am doing much better, too. Each day brings an improvement.

Are you scared to get that fill? I'm a little scared, because I don't look forward to going back to that burping, painful feeling that I had post surgery - it probably won't be that bad, though.

We are having a baby shower at work today for a co-worker - these events usually mean everyone brings a dish and it is a food free-for-all. Not looking forward to that now that my appetite is back, LOL!

I was banded on Oct. 4 and finally got clearance to start mushy and soft foods today. I never thought 1/4 cup tuna, 1/4 cup soft broccoli, and 1/4 cup mashed potatoes would look or taste so wonderful! I met with my nutritionist today and she went over a sample menu - I was only on clear and full liquids for three weeks. I have to up my Protein intake. I'm just so relieved to be able to chew food again!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
