Great! Rededicate your self to the "cause" and go forward!!!!

Believe me, I know, guilt only leads to more bad acts!!!! (As in "What difference does it make if I eat that cake because I'm already a failure!"

lisa

What a beautiful message! One that i needed to hear today because i was not so good yesterday and kept feeling guilty for the rest of the day. It's so true. You are so right and from today on i will try not to be so hard on myself.

It is a beautiful day!! Enjoy

I was banded on Sept. 15 and have lost a total of 17 lbs. I lost 10 lbs on the post op diet and another 7 lbs since the surgery. I am starting to get more hungry. I have my first fill on Oct. 13. I'm a little nervous. I'm not sure what to expect. I haven't had any trouble eating anything. When I get my fill I know I will need to be more careful about what I eat.

I was wondering what everyone eats during the day. What is a typical day like for you?

Thanks,

Lisa

HELLO!

How is everyone doing?? where are my early sept bandsters at?? Seems like they all disappeared!

My food day is:

Breakfast: Protein Shake. (i dont have time to make food in the mornin)

Lunch: chilli or a cup of tuna with 5 crackers or a salad with low calorie dressing

Dinner: Right now I'm eating spaghetti squash with meatballs and marinara sauce. Some days I scramble eggs with onion and little cheese. usually 3 eggs. Or tuna on a low carb tortilla if I didnt do crackers and tuna for lunch.

snack: SF Jello or SF pudding. 1 or 2 cups.

Thats it. I get my 2nd fill tomorrow. I'm not hungry though.

My Breakfast is also usually a Protein Shake cuz i'm really not that hungry in the morning and also don't have much time to prepare anything.

For lunch i'll have oatmeal made with milk, or scrambled eggs with cheese, or cottage cheese with marinara and melted cheese, or steamed broccoli with melted cheese, or yogurt.

For dinner, most nights i'll have chicken, and/or Soup with veggies, or chili, or eggs if i didn't have that for lunch

If i'm hungry in between meals, i'll eat a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese, or have a smoothie, or sf pudding, or even a yogurt.

Saw my family doctor today - he is pleased with how I'm doing and healing. He says what I feel at the port incision is 'soft tissue swelling' and it will continue to go down. He reduced my blood pressure meds! Said that was the likely cause of my afternoon dizziness and light-headed-ness. Yeah! that is why I got the lap-band - to reduce my meds, be healthier and to be able to wear a size 12.

I rechecked with the nutritionist - no to frozen fruits, so no tofu smoothies for breakfast. I did try Kefir - but it also causes my dairy reaction, so I'll stick with scrambled eggs and homemade turkey breakfast sausage. Boring, but filling and nutritional.

I lost another 5 pounds since I saw the surgeon. My total is a bit confusing, as each scale seems to give a different number. So, I'm going with only the doctor scales, which show about 22 pounds down since before i started the pre-op diet, and 10 pounds down since surgery. All I know is, it's in the right direction!

My first fill isn't until Oct. 26, so it's pureed yummies until then. With my dairy restrictions, it doesn't leave a lot of variety. Eggs/ground turkey for breakfast, tuna, chicken and veggies for lunch and salmon, chicken and pork tenderloins with veggies for dinner. I add in applesauce, pureed peaches or pears and my tofu chocolate banana pudding. I still want a fresh apple very badly, but I'm not hungry between my meals at this point, I really do hope this lasts a bit longer.

food takes on a more functional meaning when you are limited to pureed foods, don't you think?

I got my band on 9-1 my sister had hers in March. She had horrible shoulder pain. I didn't have any. She said her shoulder hurt worse than her stomach. My back hurt quite a bit but I think it was because I was trying to sit out with my family and wasn't moving much so I was getting stiff. How much weight have you lost so far? I am @ 28lbs. I am gettin my second fill on Wed. Friend me and keep in touch. We are both new to this.:)

Hi guys,

I was banded on 9/19 also. I am wondering about this shoulder pain. I have it and thought I hurt it getting up. I have gas and didn't know I could take gas x. I will have to get some of that. I am in a bit of pain but stopped meds today because they weren't doing much and I thought I could deal. I am wondering now. I am going to take them at bedtime! Glad to be here. I need the support of others going through the same thing!

Hello everyone,

I just signed up for fitness pal from the suggestions on here and want to be everyone's friend :). I have not figured out how to add people yet. Please feel free to add me. Iamkim73.

On a good note I had my 2 week follow up yesterday and am down 13lbs. I also got the ok to start soft foods, not mushy or blended, but soft foods! I was so happy to eat dinner with my family last night. Even if it was an extremely small portion.

Kim

Hello Everyone!

I've been out of commission since my surgery on Sept. 29th.

The surgery went well (band with plication) and hiatal hernia repair. Surgery was at 9:00 a.m., in the recovery room at 11:00 a.m. and in a room by 1:30 p.m. Spent one night and things went very well. After I got home, and on Sunday morning, everything I took in (all fluids) went right through me. I had diarrhea terribly. On Tues. it hadn't stopped so called the surgeon's office. They said that apparently I caught an intestinal bug while in the hospital and that 3 other patients had to be readmitted because of it and dehydration. I know I was dehydrated, but stayed at home and tried to get as many liquids as I could and took Imodium as prescribed by the nurse. It was a small setback, but I'm feeling pretty good now.

On Wed. I was taking my daily meds and must have taken them too quickly one after the other because I did the horrible slime (saliva with air bubbles) which was no fun at all. So, I learned my first lesson!

Today is my first day back at work. I'm tired and ready to go back home now.

Tomorrow I go back to surgeon for my 2-wk. checkup. Hopefully, they will let me eat mushies. I'm sick of all the liquids.

I've lost a total of 17 lbs. and feel good about that. I can feel it in my clothes and my face is thinning out.

Sounds like everyone is coming right along. Keep up the good work! Until next time... Peg

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
