Recommended Posts

Congratulations ! :D Welcome to the Losers Bench !!!!!:waytogo: It gets Better Day by Day ! Hope your feeling a little better. Pain meds. can be a Blessing if you need them. I know I did, and I took them. No shame here. They give them to you for a reason, and I found out why...

Thanks a ton! I only have some pain when I move now so things are good. I have been walking more than I thought i would and I suppose that has helped.

So glad I have the surgery behind me. :)

So I was banded today with the standard lapband. I had such a great experience. I had to be at the center at 6 for a 730 start time. I was the first one of the day. I must say I loved that I felt like I was in and out. I got there and they took me right back. My nurse was Amy and she is such a kind soul. She has truly found her calling. After that I got my IV and had lots of people who were in the OR come talk to me. Everyone was so kind every step of the way. Then Dr. Malley came in to see if I had any questions at all. I didnt so we got to start early. I was in and out in 40 min. When I was done I was told that the Dr. went and spoke with my husband in the lobby. What a great Dr. He is so kind. He had bypass about 10 years ago so he knows what his patients are going threw. My nurse was so attentive during my recovery. I had my swallow test and was in the car by 1145. Less than 6 hours. I am not in any pain. Every now and then I get some gas but I just walk for a min. and I burp like a baby and I feel much better.

I am so excited to start this journey. My goal for now after recovery is to work towards a 5k. It will be a big step for me but I am ready and going to meet my goal.

I have my surgery on October 12th. I am insulin dependent and on a pump is also a challenge...... few carbs and taking insulin ...... it will be interesting. I have reduced my insulin dosage by 40% being on the liquid diet. I am looking forward to life's next journey........ MARKW

Glad to hear everyone doing so well. I get banded Monday morning. I can't wait. I'm so excited to get this part past me and start my journey. I hope my recovery goes just as well as all of you. I have really been second guessing myself about this the past couple days, but I think it's just nerves and jitters. I'm going to ignore them and press on....

Anyone else have second thoughts this close to surgery??

I am scheduled for Thurs am and I am nervous too. I just keep looking at that scale when i weigh and keep telling myself how great it feels to see the numbers go down and this is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. Keep telling yourself what you are doing it for and that as nervous as we get, it would be a lot harder to lose the weight on our own and keep it off! I think I would be more nervous about trying to lose and failing again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
