What would you do if you didn't have that scale ??????

Don't let it run your life.

When your cloths start getting lose, you will know you are losing inches, and then the weight loss starts up again.

One works, then switches to the other .

So if your not losing weight, your body is working on inches, and visa versa.

Be Patient, and quit kicking yourself because of that scale. It will move in time, but you must heel.

Stay of it for a while.

This thread has been very helpful to me. I was banded on 9/6/11 and have lost 11 pounds post surgery. I am eating regular foods, just a lot less. I'm trying to listen to my new stomach to determine if I am full or hungry. I don't really feel hungry, but neither do I feel full. I guess it's the healing period.

Can someone help me out by telling me what comes after the healing period (and how long does it last)?

I guess I don't know really what to expect, and want to make sure things are working out the way I hoped they would.

Thanks for your help.

Maryann

Everyone's already given you good advice, so I won't beat the proverbial dead horse and add any more, but I do want to say that it's okay to have 'cra cra' emotions, it's really normal! It's also normal to feel frustrated, so don't feel like there's anything wrong with you. You're going to do just fine!

In fact, being in complete awareness of the situation and knowing what's going on with yourself is already a step towards success, even if the scale isn't moving yet!

Sorry, hit "enter" too soon....didn't mean to tease you. My advice is: PUT AWAY THE scale, NOW! Seriously, put it in the trunk of your car. Put it in the garage, PUT IT OUT OF SIGHT! You will lose when you are healed.

Sorry, don't mean to sound harsh, but you know how us TEXANS are! :D

I got on the scale this morning and actually lost a pound!! Whoohoo! My problem today though, is I am continuously hungry! I'm only a week and few days post-op so I'm still on liquids. I have been drinking a Soup or Protein Shake every couple of hours. This is very troublesome to me, What is going on????

Ok, you think you are cray-cray, I was banded on Sept. 1st and I have lost 8 pounds. You lost 22!!! I'm not going to get super cray-cray yet because I do understand that this is a process and I am still healing, but I do have to say that I am disappointed! 8 pounds in 17days?? really? on liquid and mush??? UGH!!! I have been writing down every calorie that has gone into my body and I have not exceeded 1000 calories on any day. The Protein Shakes alone have 200 each. What the heck????

I rarely exceed 600 a day. I am trying to work thru my issues. As for my 22lbs i started weighing myself 5 days pre op. The day of my surgery I was 290 and now I'm 282. So I am happy for that lost but I don't like just stalling for a week, but I promise myself no more weigh ins for a week!

I'm six weeks out and finally just this week the scale started moving since surgery. Don't worry, it'll happen. Lapband is slow weight loss. Relax and take a walk. B)

Hey There ~~~~

This is a constant job of trying to stay on track... I did so good, then I hit a lull and plateau. I havn't done well at all, but I havn't gained my weight back either... Just a a major standstill....

My biggest problem has been that I can drink carbonated drinks and of course the "bad stuff" is the easiest to digest. Here lately I have been eating baked potatoes with butter, cheese, and bacon (horribly fatening, but yummy and saft) I have been eating that at least 2-4 times a week for supper.

But , something hit me...Depression I suppose. Now drinking more Water, no sweet tea, and had my first big red in 4 days yesteday... Havn't started working out yet, but on the brink of getting off m butt and moving.. I also decided to look for a support group and here I am. A friend also told me about myfitnesspal.com---- LOVE that site.

Anyway, I am hoping to find my way and get back in the groove and seriously work on my other 30 lbs.

I am looking forward to getting friends that are in the same situation...

I am in Dallas tx. I'm trying to lose 50 lbs. Anything over that and I'm super happy. This coming week I will try to get in the gym at least 3 days. Maybe that will help.

I'm only day 3 post op, but I read alot of these posts about not losing weight and asked my doctor about it right before he took me into surgery. He said he's never had a patient who didn't lose weight post op so I was confused. He went on to tell me a lot of bariatric surgeons do not follow a very low carb restricted diet after surgery and that's where the difference is. I noticed you said you eat oatmeal so I don't think you're on a low carb diet - maybe that's a change you can try to see if it helps with losing. I really can't say as I haven't gotten there yet, but people I know who have used my surgeon have had really good results and they all say it's the low carb diet using the lap band only as a tool to keep you from over eating. By low carb, we are to stay under 30 (non-veggie) carbs per day. Good Luck!

Can anyone tell me how to insert your diet ticker onto our posts?

Oh yeah I'm a low carber all the way. I ve eaten oatmeal cause I'm still on the mush phase and my choices are limited. So this week I'm having oatmeal twice a week. I haven't had oatmeal in about 2 years before this past week. To be a low carber and not able to eat meat, cheese, veggies etc has been hard. I can eat eggs now, which is a relief. I'm so ready for solids.

My dr too didn't say anything about a healing period! He also has his patients on a low carb diet. Which is fine by me.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
