About Me

  • Gender
    Female
I've been on countless diets since I was a child. Cambridge diet, Cabbage Soup, Atkins, NutriSystem, Naturally Slim, Weight Watchers, etc. I actually became a Weight Watchers Lifetime Member in 1985 after I lost 25 lbs, my goal right before my wedding. I didn't understand the irritated looks I got from the other WW members, now I do. 25 lbs and now lifetime membership? If I only needed to lose 25 lbs now it would be great! Fast forward 25 years, married to a wonderful man, have a wonderful son, a wonderful job, a wonderful home, everything is wonderful....except I have gained 130 lbs since attaining my lifetime membership to WW, and I can't get it off.
My family history is pretty scary: Dad died at 50 from a heart attack, Mom died at 63, heart problems. Sister with Diabetes, Brother with Diabetes, and I am on 2 blood pressure medicines and anti cholesterol meds. I'll be 50 in December. Time to get serious!
Fortunately I do work for a Wonderful company, and the BCBS insurance they provide pays for the lap band surgery as well as a panniculectomy, which I will need when I lose 100+ lbs.
I am 2 days post op and feel wonderful (sorry, that word again!). But I do feel good, and am very excited about actually losing weight this time, for good.
