Since day one of my surgery, I have experienced excessive burping with or without drinking and eating, is this normal? Also have hiccups sometimes after eating, is that normal? I am 3wks out from lapband w/ plication and hiatal hernia repair surgery, I have been doing really well other than those few problems, I have lost 21lbs so far, I do notice now that after 2hrs of eating I start to get the hunger pains, no fills yet, is that normal? Sorry for all the problem questions, but here is one last one, been having a lot of sinus pain/drainage any suggestions of what to take, would like to say thanks in advance to anyone who reads and responds to this, I love this site and the people on here!!!

I didn't get hiccups after surgery but I do know some people who did. I think this is normal and it should go away shortly. I didn't get a fill during surgery. My surgery didn't fill me until after 6 weeks post op. The first two attempts where unsuccessfully. To make a long story short, I was taken back to surgery 2 weeks ago because my ports keep moving while she tried to fill. I just got my first fill 2 weeks ago during the revision. I was filled 2.5 ccs and I can tell the difference. I believe once you receive your first fill then you will definitely be satisfied. Now, I do get the hiccups since the fill depending on the food that I get. Sometimes I believe the hiccups come when I get too fast. Usually I have to get the food back up in order for the hiccups to go away. I guess the food is stuck. Hope this helps.

hiccups after eating means that your pouch is full and it's trying to push the food down. i would recommend eating more slowly. the hunger pains are normal because the band has just cut your food intake by a significant percentage. when you get your first fill i would speak to the doctor/nurse doing it because hiccups can cause band slippage. congrats on the weight loss so far :) i'm 7 months post-op and life at first was hard to get used to but the weight loss has completely changed my life. as for meds, my surgeon says do not take anything larger than an m&m, and if it is you should break it in half. so maybe sudafed is your best bet. good luck with everything

Hey yaya. Had surgery 5 weeks ago. since my surgery, i have been belching too. a little at first and then when i started to eat it got worse, so i think its normal. now my food gets stuck and for this reason i have been unable to eat. I have been on liquids this whole time. my next check up is on 8/31 and hopefully he will be able to draw some Fluid off my band and then give me a fill so that I can finally start to eat because I am starving now. at my last weigh in I weighed 289.5 pounds so I'm losing the weight. like you my doctor also had to repair a hiatal hernia so it is taking me a little longer than usually to heal up. Just keep on the liquids until your doctor says otherwise and you should be fine. I also would like to keep in touch with you on this journey. Good luck and God bless.

I get hiccups when I'm done eating. When it starts, it's my soft stop. Even if I'm still hungry, if I stop eating at that point I'll feel satiated within a few minutes. I don't always get them, but when I do, I pay attention.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
