i am so tired of explaining to people

Sounds to me like you're doing great! Don't let others' misconceptions create your own. Believe in yourself. You're doing fantastic!!

My new favorite quote:

"Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter."

the big question is, would u have lost this on any other diet and would u be able to continue like u would with the band??? You need to explain to your "friends" that this is NOT gastric bypass. You will lose at a normal healthy loss. You are averaging 3 lbs a week, what were they expecting???

Keep up the great work!!!

This is one reason I told very few people, my parents, outside my immediate family

Congrats on your loss! Don't let them make you feel bad. A loss is a loss!! and at least it's not a gain. That's why I won't be telling many people. I'm so OVER people thinking they know what I can or cannot eat! Just because they know I have folllowed a weight loss plan so long...they try to point out the things they THINK I cannot have. So annoying. I'm more of a private person, for the most part, so it's my coworkers that I shall strive to keep it from when it happens.

22 pounds in 7 weeks ROCKS!! I doubt your friends who are being dismissive of your weight loss will lose that much in the next 7 weeks. . .

Yeah, challenge them to a weight loss contest! laugh.gif

Remind them that it takes a long time to put weight on and just as long, if not longer, to lose it safely. You're doing it safely and with the long term goal in mind. They may want instant results, but it's not their body! :D

I didn't tell anyone but my husband and my dad & stepmom because I didn't want anyone scrutinizing me or even paying attention to what I was doing. But seeing as you've told some people already and it's not working out so well you could either drop them from any updates (as in just say you want to be more private about it from now on) and carry on your merry way OR you could give them a crash course on what the band is all about: explain that the reason it's great is that it's NOT bypass so the weightloss is much slower and healthier (ie, 1 to 2 years to lose what you want), how the fills work and how you are not even at a stage where the banding is doing much yet etc etc. I hope you are able to make a choice and deal with this because these friends could really bring you down and you are doing really great. I'd hate to see you affected by that.

Congrats on your weight loss. I understand they are your friends but as I have learned not everybody is going to be as thrilled. 22lbs is a HUGE number in 7 weeks. Sometimes it can be jealousy and other times ppl just dont want to hear it. I have a coworker that had the gastric a year ago and I got banded 6weeks ago yet she is constantly comparing herself to me. It gets annoying and I wish I never told her but I just remind myself that we are not in the same place.

My neighbor behind me, his son in law had Bypass about 6 months ago.

He told me about it as he has seen weight loss with me, thinking I had the same thing "NO THANK YOU !"

His attitude is why would you put any thing in you, that's just going to cause you problems an choke?

I told him why would you have them cut out 20+ feet of your intestines, cut your stomach up, and re route your insides. Only to have to suffer from Dumping Syndrome, and if you stretch yourself, you can gain the weight all over again....

He just walked away ! ! !

I didn't tell him that everyone that I ever knew that had Bypass are in the Ground.

So if he wants to watch my progress,,, I guess I can watch his, as time goes by. I hope he makes it. He would be the first.

I don't like those kinda odds..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
