So I have a surgery date of 8-4-11. I start my liquid diet on 7-30-11. My dr told me that anything that I could start now would only help me later. So I am having a shake for Breakfast every morning along with a chewable multi Vitamin. i have had a headache every day since I have started this. Any ideas????????

My surgery is scheduled for the 4th also. I actually started my pre-op diet last Sunday in preparation for my appointment with the surgeon. Figured it couldn't hurt being ahead of the game. I had a headache for the first 2 days, and absolutely NO energy. But then it got better, until yesterday. I thought I would chew my arm off before dinner last night. But I made it and when I stepped on the scale this morning I was 10 pounds lighter than on Sunday. I can't believe it.

It get's better. I promise.

Try drinking coffee in the morning. I always get them if I skip the coffee!

tks guys. Hopefully this will pass. I do have my 1 cup of coffee every morn, but my headaches dont kick in till about 11-12. At one point I thought it was a hunger headache. Anyway, I will fight through it. Good luck to you both.

One idea might be to drink some no sugar added 100% juice.

Hi,

I'm new here. Since I'm intolerant to gluten and lactose I am a severe label reader and content researcher. I found online that some Protein drinks/mixes/supplements have monosodium glutamate ( MSG) which can cause headaches for some people. Here's a list of some not-so-evident forms of MSG's I've found online: Anything "hydrolyzed", Any "hydrolyzed protein", Calcium caseinate, Sodium caseinate, Autolyzed yeast, Gelatin, Textured Protein, Soy protein, soy protein concentrate, Soy protein isolate, whey protein, whey protein concentrate, Whey protein isolate.

I get headaches from MSGs however, I don't hedaches from all of the above (soy protein products, Gelatin are okay).

So look on your labels and see what you have.

Hope this helps!

My surgery is August 8th and I've just started my pre-op diet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
