Recommended Posts

Not everyone has to do one. I do not. My doctor only rquires a low carb diet prior to surgery.

I am on the 3rd day of a 5 day pre-op diet. 2 protien shakes per day and 1 "sensible meal" kind of reminds me of my old "slim fast"days!!! Feeling good, still excited for surgery Thursday!

Its all over the place in terms of length of pre-op diet. Mine is only 4 days, but 100% Protein shakes/clear liquids. Not sure why. I'm having headaches, too, but they're manageable.

I also had to be on 2 weeks pre-op liquids followed by 2 weeks post op liquids. My Dr. had me drink the Bariatric Advantage shakes before surgery and then after I could drink which ever shakes I wanted. I found that the EAS brand shakes are not bad. You can get those from Walmart or target. Both the premixed and the powder taste ok. I could also have Clear Liquids during my 4 week liquid diet. Stuff like sugar free Jello, popsickes, broth. It was definately hard but you'll get use to it. It's all worth it in the end. Gool Luck to you guys!!

Hi all: Got home from hospital today about 12:30. Surgery was yesterday at 7 am and all went well. Not too bad at all.....pleasantly surprised. I am one of the senior bandsters on this site and was very concerned about doing this ......but I have to say I did really well so far. Up walking yesterday by 1 pm .....but did not sleep at all in hospital so I'm really tired today. Glad its over and I'm officially a bandster. Not hungry at all today...still swollen. Sore at the incisions but liquid Tylenol is doing the job. Don't want to take the Vicodin unless I really need it....afraid of the naseous feeling it might give me.

Good Luck to all of those left being banded in July. Its really not that bad and if I could do it so could you. As far as the pre op diet goes mine was for a week with shakes and liquids....I could have veggies and fruits also. See you on the "officially banded" side. CAT

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
