I have had my Lap Band for 8 months now and have gotten 5 fills, after the surgery I felt full lost 2 pounds. After that I felt nothing the last fill my food started getting stuck and I threw up. I have not lost any weight I have actually gained 8 pounds, whats going on, will I be the only person who has Lap Band that did not lose weight, I am so frustrated.I spoke to other patients in the waiting room and they started losing weight immediatley. 2 people told me they lost 65-70 pounds within 2-3 months. I keep asking my doctor if maybe the band slipped he tells me to be patient we have to get the cc's right. My last fill which was on june 5th he said i did not need a fill this time he dosen't want it to be too tight and to come back in August, however I gained 8 pounds I am confused why wouldn't I need a fill? and why would I wait to come back way....in August if I am not losing? :( Can anyone help me anyone????

Are you keeping a food diary?

What are you eating and how much?

Are you exercising?

How much food do you eat before you feel satisfied?

You have to be eating too many calories. Lapband only help. You have to work hard to get there. food journal is a great idea.

I feel your pain. I to am in the same boat. I have had like 5 fills and my Doctor is very conservative when it comes to fills. I have 5 1/2 cc in my band right now. I just had a fill yesterday. So well see how this one goes. But I haven't lost anything really since I first had the surgery. Maybe total 30 pounds. But have been the same weight for the last few months. Haven't gained any but haven't lost either. My food was starting to get stuck a little so that's why I think this most recent fill should help. Good Luck to you. I'm sure we just need to get to our sweet spot and things will start looking up.

Thanks for the reply, I hope so because as I have said I have lost nothing, I have gained, it really sucks, starting to get worried that it was all for nothing, however I will hang in there.:(

Maybe, however I should have lost something by now (it has been 8 months) , not gained and I have began a food journal. Thank you, anymore suggestions? I welcome all.

What's an example of what you eat in a day? Maybe we can help you.

I try not to eat that much, but I still get hungry and I don't get full as fast as I should. My doctor is going to do a sonogram with that liquid stuff to see if there is any problem with my band so hopefully everything is ok.

Wish me luck everyone, my doctor is going to do a Sonogram with that liquid stuff @ my next appointment, to make sure my band is ok, and there is no slippage or leaking with my band @ least this will put my mind at ease, and I will know if everything is ok and that the band was put on properly, because come on guys 8 months and no weight loss, I don't know??? but, I hope I don't have to have surgey again

Well, you ARE feeling restriction so the fills are working. And you're feeling tightness and having puking episodes, so we doubly-know that the fills are working. If you're not losing weight my first thought is that your diet is off; can you schedule a time to meet with a nutritionist to go over your food journals? If you give us an idea of what you are eating, that will help us figure out if it's a food thing or something else going on. What you are experiencing is very unusual, so don't stop trying to figure out what's wrong and how to fix it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
