i havent had my surgery yet . However , ive been dieting and working out like a nazi and im GAINING WEIGHT !! What the heck !? My jeans even feel tighter ! What is wrong with me ? Im not working out with weights or anything im just walking about 45 mins every night .

So disappointing . I was REALLY hoping to be one of these " Bandsters" that lose 50lbs before they even have surgery with diet and exercise . It really makes me feel like crap. If i gain weight once i get the band , that will be the end of me . I cant do this anymore.

How much have you gained, in how much time?

Ok skinny, take a deep breath and let it out slowly ... all is not lost. Do you REALLY want to know why you are gaining? Are you logging your food on "fitday.com" or something similar. There are people on this board that swear by this site.

Here's the thing, we have spent our lives doing things that contributed to our obesity and we are experts at gaining weight. We are not, however, experts at losing weight and keeping it off. So, now we need to try something different because this time we want to get a different result -- that being losing weight AND keeping it off. Part of the something different will be not stressing yourself out, because it only hurts your cause. You CAN and WILL lose weight. . Try the "fitday.com" type sites so that you can see in black and white what is going on and do some research on walking for weight loss so that you can make your walks more effective.

If you are exercising and dieting there has to be a reason you are gaining weight. So, before you throw in the towel, you need to find out what the problem is and how you can correct it.

You are going to be a GREAT bandster. You will lose weight. This is NOT going to be the "end of you". Figure out why you are not losing and change what you can. You'll be all right, really you will ... just breathe. :)

~Fran

Could be Water to go on that fast.

Also if your busting your butt, remember Muscle weighs more then fat.

Don't Panic! it's not major, and it will come off.

Hi,

I lost weight prior to surgery, not one pound since. I am on my Fitnesspal.com which was an easy way to track calories. I am supposed t be eating 1200 calories a day and seem to be consistently under that. I have no interest in eating any more than I am. And this includes a McDonalds low fat cone whenever I want one. I can't have ice cream in the house. Its a trigger food and I know it. I go to the gym 4x a week for an hour. I'm hoping the pa will have some suggestions to help. This is not easy. Its like a puzzle I can't quite figure out. Good luck, Keep the faith

3 pounds in a week could be a million different things- Water weight, maybe AF is about to show, maybe you've been eating more salt than usual, maybe the weather is affecting you! Try not to freak out, it's "only" one week! :)

I fluctuate BADly on the regular. You'll find that there are a lot of us on this board who will lose and gain the same old 2-4 lbs and then BAM, loose like 6lbs and start fluctuation process all over again.

Don't fret, and please please don't compare yourself to other bandsters pre or post op. I'm 6 months out as of yesterday and have 'only' lost 43lbs. It kills me a little bit to see people who post 3 weeks after surgery and are mad because they've 'only' lost 20lbs since surgery, huh.gif. Can't compare yourself to others though. It'll kill your moral. Lol. laugh.gif

Good luck, you'll do fine!

what helped me is to write down every single thing I put in my mouth. Even if it's a taste of something. Then you get a really good idea of how much you're eating. And like other posters may tell you; muscle does weigh more than fat, and it's common when someone first starts exercising, etc to gain a little. It's only been a week! Just keep trying! Drink lots and lots of water!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
