Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Hey There,

Just looking for any July 2011 banders. I just started my process, but as that I am "self-pay", I am on a fast track to surgery. Although, not terribly obese (bmi 34), I am using lap band surgery as a tool for continued success after loosing weight. I have always been able to join a program(diet or exercise or prescription) and loose weight.....I've done it several times with several different programs (not a good thing), but I always gain the weight back and more. Now that I am in my 40s, it is harder to loose and faster to come back. No more, I say! I want to be heathy in my future - family history/genetics dictates that I will/can be using a walker or wheel chair from degenerative bones and joints, heart disease, diabetes. I am trying to steer clear of that but still keep seeing myself heading in that direction, so now is the time for further action. Although apprehensive about going under, I am reading all the good things about the lap band procedure and am hoping that it is just a little more than the tubiligation and endemetrial ablasion that I had done last year. At least, I am thinking of it that way, so as to not scare myself too badly!

With only 2 more weeks until surgery.....I'm sort of tempted to go buy something that doesn't fit. Like a pair of jeans that is a size or two too small. I'm a size 20, and most stores don't sell size

xlstan - that is my hope -- that all of these head games will turn into molehills ... thanks guys for sharing !

doing great with the band today...my stomach tells me when to stop (i couldn't finish all of my tomato soup) and walked outside for a bit plus watered the plants and did some light stuff around the house...was able to carry and nurse my 11 month old...gas pain is still driving me crazy, but incisions are only midly paining now, much better.

am very excited for this journey! so far so good...

I was an addict - Diet Coke Addict~~~ monimum of 3 a day usually more -- I gave it up 3 weeks pre-op (I am now 3 weeks post op) and even I can;t beleive I do not miss it like I thought I would -- so far so good - hang in there may not be tto bad for you either Heres to hoping for ya :bananajump:

I'm being banded July 5 too!!!!! I'm not nervous - but I think about it all the time (and giving up diet pop I think will be the hardest thing)! Good luck to all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You so got this! Don't beat yourself up...the lifestyle changes we have already made are more than most people can handle, let alone adding the pre-op diet restrictions. Keep your head up...stay as focused as you can. Safe travels and best of luck on Tuesday. Look forward to hearing your stories on the post-band side! :)

Thank you for your kind words. It's just much harder than I expected it to be. I weighed in today and was NOT happy with the measly 300g loss since Wednesday... But all it's really done is reminded me why I'm getting banded! I work SO hard to lose weight and never see results... I cannot WAIT to have my body back on side!

Wow !! So much is happening :) Was excited to already hear from late Junesters ... weigh to go (away !!).

Shauna ~ excellent news on the July surgery date. I'll be starting pre-op with you on July 5. July 2011 - a new independence for all of us !

Shauna,

I start the pre-op diet too on the 5th. I am glad to know that there are others that will be going through this at the same time as I am. Just wanted to say thank you for starting this post. Knowing there are others rooting for you is such a help. Good luck to those having surgery this next week and to those starting the pre-op diet.

Got my pre-op appointment tomorrow! Ugh SOOOOOOOO many questions!!! I'm making a list of things to ask so I don't forget anything!

I swear it gets better after day six...I know, big help. I am craving nothing, can see my kids and husband eat a big breakfast at the hotel's buffet and calmly sip on my shake. I'm not hungry and can think of things other than food (normally food consumes my thoughts). It really much better after day six (day nine today). Surgery in three days...yay!

Thanks Lorelei, that makes me hopeful, I'm on Day 4, got my TOM today, and am ready to grab my husband's lunch and lock myself in the bathroom with it, lol!

Lorelei - it does help knowing this ... thanks for sharing !

Denise - July 5th is our new independence day !

Hi Everyone,

I was banded on friday, July 1st and was home the next day by 1:00. The pain was pretty bad the first day but has gotten a lot better since then. As for the gas pains... walk, walk, walk, it really does help. I am now on the liquid diet and feel pretty good. I'm actually not hungry.... FINALLY! LOL

To all you other July banders good luck. Here's to our "New Beginning".

Congratulations, Wendy ! I'm excited about our 'new beginning' too ... glad to hear that you're doing well and not hungry (that's what I need !). Keep us updated on your progress !

I had not been on in a week or so. Work has kept me really busy. Congrats on getting your surgery date. How long did it take for the insurance company to send the approval back?

Hello all, CruiseGirl2011NOW NewCruiseGirl2011 due to login problems. Being banded on July 14. Look so forward to sharing stories with you all.

To all my fellow July banders that have just been banded:

Was the actual surgery and first few days post op everything that you thought it would be? Anything more? Less? As painful? Less painful? Any realizations you weren't expecting?

Today is my 12th PreOp liquids only diet.... July 6th is the big day! After researching, learning, and thinking about gastric banding, here I am 3 days away from following through with it. Crazy!!!
