Bandster "Hell" Ends On Wednesday

Recommended Posts

I'm getting my first fill on Wednesday. Though to be honest, I've kind of enjoyed the bandster hell phase. I've been able to eat what I want (within reason, of course). I haven't gotten sick. And most importantly, I've lost a few pounds. I know this is the next step in the lap band journey, and I'm looking forward to it. But I'm just a little nervous, because I know I'll have to re-adjust to eating and drinking with more restriction (I have just a little bit now). So it is with this post that I say a fond farewell to bandster hell. B)

I feel the same way you do! I am going to miss "bandster hell". I really did enjoyed being able to eat , almost, anything I want with a little restriction. My first fill will be on June 7th, so I'm a little nervous about that but hopefully everything goes well. I have to say that even though I did enjoy eating and still losing weight, the weight loss has now become stagnant and I need my fill to take it up a notch. Good luck with everything!

Phew, thank you for posting your thougths I thought it was just something I was doing and was feeling really bad and guilty about it. I didn't realize it was called the bansters hell. I followed the rules to a T the first 7 weeks after surgery, but this past week I did a bit of experimenting with foods and feel like I may have over done. I turned down my 1st fill, but am scheduled to have it this week. Looking forward to that and getting back on track as I don't want to blow this chance at a healthier lifestyle. Or gaining back the 45 lbs I have lost.

45lbs! That's amazing! When were you banded? I didn't have to follow any type of pre op diet, just no eating or drinking the night before surgery so I didnt really loose much weight ,just 4lbs. I sometimes wish I had created my own pre op diet and lost a little before hand, but what are you gonna do... Keep it up!:D

You might still be in "hell" after your first fill. Lots of people say their first fill does not do much for them.

I started my process a year ago april. I was banded 4-11-11. I lost 20 before surgery and 25 since surgery. I have been spending a lot of time walking on the treadmill as well. I figured instead of laying around watching tv, i should be at least up and walking right.. :) I didn't really have a strict pre op diet just nothing to eat or drink the night before. But I was really watching what I ate in the months prior to. 4 lbs is 4 less you have to lose right so that is great. I keep having to remind myself that I didn't put the weight on over night, so I am not going to loose it overnight, but it would be nice.

Like someone stated above, you might still be in bandster hell after your first fill. All doctors fill differently. Some give you 1cc fill per visit making it a long time till you get to restriction while other do big fills or even smaller fills.

Ive heard people having bandster hell till fill 6 some losing it after fill 2.

Lets hope you get some good restriction with your first fill

Good luck :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
