Lymphedema and getting the Lap band question

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am a newbie and I am to be banded on April, 15th 2011. I am pretty excited but also nervous as all get out!

My question is: Has anyone on the forum been banded while having lymphedema? I have lower limb lymphedema on the left hand side. I have frequent bouts of cellulitus and was wondering if that had been a problem for any of the other bandsters out there? Also, my healing tends to be very slow due to the lymphedema so naturally I am a lil nervous about that as well. Any advice would be great! Thanx!

Mari

Mari,

Maybe try the search function for those two terms. You might get an answer to your question much faster than waiting for someone to respond.

Best wishes.

Yes! Please let us know! I have chronic unilateral edema on the left side as well - I'm wondering how the band is going to effect this, if at all. I haven't had any issues with cellulitis or delay in healing, just extreme swelling. Have you had any studies done? I've had a ton - venous ultrasounds, lymphscintigrophy, EKG, abdominal CAT scan and MRI... Mine seems to be simply venous insufficiency on the left side, which sucks, but if I eat high Protein low carb it does reduce the amount of swelling.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
