Lymphedema and getting the Lap band question

Hi everyone!

I am a newbie and I am to be banded on April, 15th 2011. I am pretty excited but also nervous as all get out!

My question is: Has anyone on the forum been banded while having lymphedema? I have lower limb lymphedema on the left hand side. I have frequent bouts of cellulitus and was wondering if that had been a problem for any of the other bandsters out there? Also, my healing tends to be very slow due to the lymphedema so naturally I am a lil nervous about that as well. Any advice would be great! Thanx!

Mari,

Maybe try the search function for those two terms. You might get an answer to your question much faster than waiting for someone to respond.

Best wishes.

I have leg lymphedema and was wondering how it was goingnw the lap band?

Yes! Please let us know! I have chronic unilateral edema on the left side as well - I'm wondering how the band is going to effect this, if at all. I haven't had any issues with cellulitis or delay in healing, just extreme swelling. Have you had any studies done? I've had a ton - venous ultrasounds, lymphscintigrophy, EKG, abdominal CAT scan and MRI... Mine seems to be simply venous insufficiency on the left side, which sucks, but if I eat high protein low carb it does reduce the amount of swelling.
