Hi all, I was banded on March 25 and got my first fill, 4ccs on May 11. It hurt, OMG, it hurt! Not during but about 20 mins later, like he stretched some scar tissue. I feel some restriction, and am fuller longer. I've lost 44 lbs since this journey began. I feel great, and am off most meds. At 40lbs I cut my hair. At 50lbs I think I'll get a Mani-pedi. I like to treat myself when I hit a goal. At some point I want to do a whole makeover. I am going to Rome next summer and can't wait to be comfortable on a plane.

Hey March Bandsters!!!

I just figured i should update....40 lbs gone.

Staying on top of my workout regimen has been critical for me.

I have given up white bread entirely. It just goes down too hard.

Other than that, my energy level is up and I hope to continue losing the weight!

Stay motivated guys!!

Why haven't you received a fill yet? I was banded on March 8 and just received my 2nd fill Tuesday.

Prior to my fills though I was just like you. No restriction at all. I felt like I was the girl who had weight loss surgery just to eat the same old way! It does get better with fills. Some who have the surgery the band is enough restriction. I was not in that lucky group but now with my 2nd fill my amount of food intake is much lower (without stopping myself) and hunger between meals is longer.

I would speak to your surgeon about starting the fill process. Keep in touch!

Hey Party People!!!

Just checking in with everyone....had my 2nd fill, about 1.5 cc, just enough to take the edge off. Anyways, I have lost a total of 57lbs since starting the liquids back on march 10, so losing about 5-6 lbs/week. I have donated tons of my clothes away as I don't want any of that in the house, no excuses to ever get into that clothes. I eat what ever I want for the most part, but in extreme moderation...still no soda, cake, candy, Cookies, etc....so pretty happy so far.

So I had my first actual NSV (except for the usual donating of clothing) since surgery. It seems a little crazy to me, but I was so happy. I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around me (like always) and it actually fit around me and overlapped a bit and covered me like it was supposed to. Now mind you it's still one of the big ones, but it fit! it fit! it's been 15 years since that happened :) I was pretty happy. So glad everyone is doing well. We will all be successful. We have to be :)

I am having a garage sale on Saturday in prt to try to make some money to buy a few new clothes and to get rid of my old things. I will donate what I don't sell. All my PJs are outrageously big, I need new ones. I feel great but my blood sugar went back up so I had to go back to taking that med. But I have to remember that I am down to one pill once a day instead of a 12 pills a day. Not too bad. I am down 47 lbs. I was down 48 but I put on Water weight. The sad thing I am disappointed it isn't 50 yet. It's only been 8 weeks. I lost 18 lbs preop so 29 post op is 3.5 lbs a week. I need to keep it in perspective. And I need to accept it when people tell me I look great and not discount it in my head.

Just a quick update! I am a little over 2 months out and down 25 total now!! Thats 1/4 of my total goal!!! I cant beleive how easy it is coming off... I started Zumba 3 weeks ago and I have lost 10lbs since I have started that and I feel great! I bought a refurb bike and have been riding it, when its not storming and it makes me feel like a kid again! Its a great feeling putting my clothes on and the fit perfectly or they are big!!! I think I am pretty close to the "green" zone so I am losing steadily 3-4 lbs a week! I stay full and its great!!!

Keep up the great work everyone!:D

I feel like such a failure. I've been at a standstill for about a month. My husband keeps filling the freezer with ice cream and yesterday I caved and ate 3 "drumsticks":( THREE. Other than that I've been working so hard; I get my Water in, no liquid calories to speak of, and while portions are still smaller than pre-band I never seem to lose. I keep retaining Water, so will lose then gain then lose then gain. I've been hungry and having to reallly fight snacking. My band seems loose one day, tight again, loose again, etc.

I got in for a fill today, .7 cc (so 6.2 total) and can barely eat now...which I know is normal. I need to just do some mushies/softs for a few days. Life stress has been pretty massive lately, and I had a HUGE let down at work the other day. Despite being down 30 pounds, dropping a shoe sad.gifsize and a pant & top size, I was talking to a doctor atwork who is ocnsidering being banded and I openly mentioned I had the band done 2+ months ago...a coworker said kind ain disbelief "yeah but have you seen any difference?? Have you lost anything?" I was devastated. I said "yeah....30 pounds..." I guess people must not be seeing it yet. :( I can see it in my face, and when I look at myself nakked (shudder) I sincerely see a BIG difference. It just kinda blew my confidence to shreds.

So hoping this fill will help me get back on track. I CAN DO THIS. I CAN DO THIS. (I also talked to DH today about the ice cream issues....it's too tempting to me this early on, and taking up way too much valuable space in the freezer for healthy foods)

So I'm down 25lbs and had a fill last week I have a total of 7cc's in my band it holds 14. But I dont feel full when I eat. I've been measuring my food and can eat between 10-12oz before Im full. Ugghhh I have to wait another 2 1/2 weeks for another fill. Im working out and watching what I eat till then.

So, I guess not being able to eat after a fill is NOT normal. I could barely eat runny oatmeal, so called the clinic just over 24 hours after the fill and they got me right in and took 0.4 cc back out....WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I'm still struggling a bit with things like ground meat, so have to take it really slow, but ahhhhhhh I can eat again! I was up to 274 (from 268) when I went in for the fill...I keep retaining Fluid like mad for some reason...and am down already to 266, yay! Finally the scale is moving down again. AND someone at work mentioned I'm looking skinnier (he knows I got the band). I really needed to hear that!

How are you all doing?

Its nice to see all the March banded people share stories. I like reading them and comparing and making sure im keeping up with everyone. I was banded March 25, and im down 23 lbs. I expected a little bit of better results, but ill take what i get. Ive had one fill which was last week (and to be quite honest i dont remember how much was inserted). Im just kinda confused because i still have no trouble with carbonated drinks, or any kind of foods. Im still able to eat without getting full with concerns me. Havent had food stuck in me or anything. Sometimes i wonder if the band is really inside me or if it was all a dream.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
