  • I started my pre-op liquid diet on Feb.23 for 3 weeks. 5 Glucera shakes and 3 glasses of milk per day. I lost 23.5 pounds and had my surgery on March 16th. I have lost 11.5 pounds post-op ( 1 week).

  • Don't forget that pre-op diet weight loss is not necessarily true weight loss and you WILL gain some of it back right after the surgery. Part of starving your liver is depleting it of carbs, and for

After 10 days on my pre-op diet (thankfully not entirely liquids), I have lost 13.6 lbs. My surgery is on 4/5

My liquid diet is or 7 days, I am on day three and dont know what I weight because I refuse to put a scale in my house. I know if I do, I will get obsessed. My doctor wants liquids, but said if I have to eat something, make sure its something protein. I have been trying hard to stick to all liquids, yogurt, cream of wheat, water, unsweetened diet ice tea, etc but the headaches and shaking is too much. So day 1 I ate 2 hard boiled eggs in addition to all the liquid, day 2, I ate chicken, less than 3 ounces, today....still liquids so far, but know I will eat something at dinner.

On day 5 of my 2 week diet... very few substitutions (hard boiled egg)..Optifast.. :P Only lost 2 lbs...still have 9 more days to

go..substitution week over! :( It's soooo going to be worth it!

Surgery day is tomorrow morning 4/5 for me. After weighing myself this morning, I'm down just over 18 pounds since I started my 2-wk pre-op diet on 3/22.

I am on day 4 of the liquid diet. I can say it gets better everyday. The Protein shakes(Im using EAS soy protein) can be alittle hard to get down at times. I have lost almost 10 pds. My surgery is set for April 1st in Dallas/Richardson Texas. I cant wait. I know this diet can be hard but it only helps b/c after you have your new pouch you will not be able to eat like you did before anyways!! Good luck!

Hi Amanda: Did you have your surgery and how did it go?? I know it has only been a couple of days but would you go through it again ????

my doctor made me do a 3 week liquid diet, i did add soup to the mix because i don't like the way the broth tastes but i have lost 27 lbs so far ..that is one hard diet to stick to !

I lost 15 lbs during my preop diet (cheated a couple of times) and then 7 more since my surgery (post op 1 week) for a total of 22 lbs in 3 weeks. Just starting my journey, good luck with yours!

See, I don't have a pre-liquid diet, I have a no carb, meat, egg, and cheese diet. My liquid diet starts after surgery...but good luck, all of you!

2wk low carb high protein diet consisting of 2 protein shakes & one small meal (protein plus veggie & fruit) and I lost 9lbs. I did not gain any of that back. My surgery was 3/4/11 and I am down 26lbs. Good luck!

Hello everyone,

My surgery is Wednesday, April 13th. I went for my pre-admission testing last week and according to their scale I only lost 5lbs. Earlier that morning my scale said 9lbs. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 14lbs but the hospital scale always read something different. I feel like I lost 14lbs because I'm fitting in clothes I previously couldn't fit.

Did anyone else experience this? Your scale different from the doctors scale? LOL!

opinions---doc said to do the shake 2 weeks prior---and i messed up---didn't stick with itnow i am supposed to have surgery on friday-but that only gives me 4 days----shouild i move surgery? i don't want to go to hospital and have them cut me just to find out my liver is too big! i am scared i have messed up again!

You will be just fine. Some people do not have a pre-op diet at all! I would make sure to keep it light the night before surgery. Good luck!
