I'm newly banded & @ 1 wk post op I have lost 14 lbs doing well when I got the OK for mushies have been told I can have chicken, turkey blended I find I can eat but not alot ie: 1 slice of turkey breast thin, 1 slice of provolene cheese, these are going down very well chewed of course. I am struggling but have gotten better with not have liquid soon after eating but that 's a habit I have to break. At this point when I am not having a flare up of my RA how often & for how long & what kind of exercise should I be doing?

My doctor gave me the okay to start cardio exercise 1 week post-op. She told me to go ahead and start slow enough that I could hold a regular conversation with someone while on the treadmill or walking without needing to take deep breaths or gasp for air. 10-15 minutes to start, 1-2 times a day. Stop if you feel uncomfy, just listen to your body. More vigorous exercise that use your abs or include high intensity workouts or lifting weights shouldn't happen until at least 6 weeks post-op, or until you're given the okay by your doctor. But during the next 5 weeks, if you feel good enough, you can increase your cardio time to 30minutes at a time. Check with your doctor first, of course, but this is just what my doc told me! Hope everything goes well!

I'd walk and nothing more. I wasn't cleared for strenuous activity for 6 weeks. This way you can heal properly.

That is great you want to work out! It will really help in your weightloss journey. I would listen to your doc. and start excersing when he says it's ok. Good luck!

Ask your doctor because they all have different plans! The day I was discharged from the hospital my doctor told me resume normal activity (knowing what my "normal activity" was). That meant that I could go back to my 4 Zumba classes a week with light/minimal ab work. To some people, that would have been too much. It's best to ask your doctor when you should start exercising and how much exertion it should be.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
