I am not a big greek yogurt fan either; I'm not a fan of any sort of yogurt, something about the texture and consistency. Could you try to add more fruit to it? Maybe a sugar free sweetener, honey, or agave nectar? Add it to a Protein shake? I know some people use it as a dip and add garlic, onions, etc. Or try a sweeter dip with cream cheese, fruit, etc.

I'll stick to my ricotta/cottage cheese for my Protein. :P

i just bought a bunch of chobonies vanilla yougurt, not crazy about it,but i also bought some strawberries that were on sale at the same time,i cut up 2 of the berries and add a sweet and low and it tastes pretty good.i just love regular youdurt though.

I actually like plain greek yogurt, taste like sour creame so it goes on my Soups, Beans, etc! I use the vanilla one in my shakes!

I've completely replaced sour cream in all recipes with fat free FAGE greek yogurt. Mixed with salsa it makes a great salad dressing for chicken fajita salad, it works in in beef stroganoff, great on tacos, etc... It's taken a bit to convert DH to yogurt instead of sour cream but when I showed him the calorie and fat difference he was good with it. You can get a 32 oz tub of it at costco for about $6 so it's a great buy.

I haven't read all the post on this thread so sorry if this has been stated already. I've grown to really like the chobani plain I flavor it for whatever my taste are. I use a little spleda sweeten to taste, then I had whatever crystal light flavor I'm in the mood for, becareful not add too much. I've also added some no carb fruit spreads and honestly I prefer this now over the premixed yogurts.. Who would've thought...

I had never really been a fan of Greek yogurt, but I really like the Chobani brand, especially the honey flavor. I usually add a 1/8 of raw almonds for crunch and texture. I am not a fan of Breakfast in general, so this is what I eat almost every weekday for Breakfast.< /span>

I love the Fage plain greek yogurt. I mix some equal into it and every now and then I will add some fruit. The chobani was good as well, but it gave me a weird aftertaste.

I add a scoop of light cool whip or a squirt of canned whipped cream, mix it up and, bingo! You have a tasty mousse!!!

It's nothing like "greek yogurt" once you've done this :)

Cool tip, I never would have thought of adding Crystal Light. Yeah, the greek yogurt is bitter, sweetener would help-Duh, I never even thought of it! Ha ha :D

I looooove the kroger brand carbmaster yogurt as mentioned above by dnic. Depending on the flavor, you can get them in either 60 or 80 cals. ( the 80 cals do have a little higher protein) I love the carrot cake flavor, it tastes like pumpkin pie filling

Ok, I am really trying to like this, but as I sit here I am forcing myself to eat it. This is the firsttime I have had this kind of yogurt. I usually eat the regular fat free and/or sugarfree kind. This is really bitter and kind of sour. I got the strawberry yoplait 2x Protein one. Maybe it will grow on me. Any suggestions of a better tasting brand?

I have found that the Greek yogurt has the consistency of sour cream. What I have also found is that the Chobani Greek yougurt has 14 g. of Protein and doesn't taste as horrible as some of the others. They have peach, blueberry, strawberry, honey, black cherry and plain. No it's not the best but it does provide the biggest benefit we need... the protein...

Here's to better tasting!

I don't buy the fruited greek yogurts.. have you looked at the amount of sugars in those?? Wow.. undoing all the good by eating those.

I get the plain greek yogurt. Chobani & Fage aren't available here.. I get the Dannon and sometimes the Yoplait (yeah I know some don't like, but I really can't tell the difference).

I add fresh or frozen fruit to my plain yogurt and some splenda/equal/truvia (depends on what I have on hand). I also use the plain as a substitute for sour cream.

I made chicken florentine last night and used the plain greek yogurt in it too. Was wonderful.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
