How is it compareable to C-Section pain?

Recommended Posts

So my 2nd question of the day is....

How is lap-band pain in comparison to C-Section pain? I've had 2 C-Sections, and while it was a real b***h, I know I can handle it.

What kind of pain meds are you on when you leave?

How long did you have to take them?

When did you go back to work? I work in an office and don't do any physical work.

I've never had a c-section but having the Lapband was my first surgery ever and I am a pain baby (or was). I am scared of needles LOL. I will honestly say the pain was a 3/10, maybe a 4. If anything it's just uncomfortable. The gas pains are annoying and can hurt at times but Gas-X, walking, and a heating pad are a great cure.

I was put on Lortab. I took them for the first 3 days I think and then didn't need them anymore. I went back to work 2 weeks after. Most go back within a week though because of a long commute I wanted to ensure I was fully healed. Often times people do too much too soon.

The pain was not bad at all. It felt like I did a million sit ups. I took pain meds for 2 days and after that I didn't need it. I returned to work 5 days later. I am 12 days post surgery and I feel great. Good luck!!

I asked the same question to my surgeon. I've had two c-sections also and he states that the pain is nowhere near as bad. But he hasn't had a c-section so how would he know lol.... Anyway I get banded Monday March 7th so I'll let you know. Good Luck

I had a c-section at midnight and was out of bed at 10 a.m. that morning and walking down to the nursery. I was back at work a little over 2 weeks later (teaching elementary school). Lap band surgery one morning, back to work half day the next day and then full-time after that.

On a scale of 1 to 10 for pain....c-section was about a 6....lapband 1. Pain may be too strong of a word. It was more an uncomfortableness. I never filled my pain meds.

Now, talk to me about paper cuts though. Those are a 10. :D

I had many surgeries. When they did the band, I was on the table for 3hrs. "30 minutes to do the band.." Hernia repair, lymph node removal "groin" they thought they were cancerous, and they weren't. So he finished with the band.. Ended up on a Morphine pump, then home the next day with some pain pills. Never felt much soreness from the band, but the groin was sore.

I would say the pain for me was quite similar honostly, i dont do well with pain and I had a emergency c-section, I was given lortab after the lapband, which is just 750mg vicodin, since im on pain meds already for back and knee pain the pain meds they gave me didnt work, i found myself crushing my oxycodones, ask for somthing stornger than vicodin, trust me!

I thought the c section pain was a million times worse. Lapband was very definately not a cakewalk but recovery was much easier for me than c sec.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
