mad at my dr...

Recommended Posts

i was due for my 4th fill march 3rd. i had some restriction with my 3rd fill, but i was really hoping this fourth fill would do the trick for me, especially since i struggled quite a bit this month. today my dr's office called and said something came up, and my appt needed to be cancelled. the soonest date they have to reschedule is APRIL 7th! this is the second appt in a row that the office has called me to reschedule. i'm so frustrated! how can they call to cancel and then not have anything for over a month?!?! does anyone else have problems with their surgeon cancelling appointments? up until this point, i haven't had any issues with my surgeon and his team, but i'm getting really frustrated with them cancelling appointments, especially because it's so hard to get one! angry.gif

That's terrible! I can't believe they would cancel you then reschedule for April 7th! That is completely unacceptable. My response would be, "You canceled me, now please give me a realistic date." I mean a whole extra month when you are needing a fill now, no way - you now have me mad (and I never get mad!!!) But seriously, tell them how you feel and don't accept that date that is over a month away.

Good luck! :)

PS. - I've never had an appointment canceled or rescheduled.

The squeaky wheels, unfortunately, tend to get the oil. I would vehemently demand a proper reschedule date (i.e. within 2 weeks). I would tell them it would be highly irresponsible to make you wait so long for your appointment, especially considering they cancelled and fill appointments don't take that long (so I hear, I haven't had one yet -- I'm only 6 days pos-op). I would totally be upset if I was you because I anxiously await every appointment that gets me closer to where I need to be in this "band" journey. Good luck!

thanks for the feedback! i'm only five months out from surgery, so i didn't know if this was just commonplace;

and i didn't want to come off too aggressively to the dr's office. however, i just find it really hard to believe

that there isn't an appointment between march 3rd and april 7th when they could fit me in for the 10 minutes it takes to get a fill.

i asked the receptionist to let me know if anyone, at any time, cancelled before then, but she didn't sound overly enthusiastic

about it. i'm going to call the office first thing tomorrow and basically beg for an earlier appointment. i really appreciate

your comments!

Does your doctor have to do the fills? I only ever have a nurse. They are so fast she has even told me that she is willing to take me in during her lunch because it only takes 3 minutes. I would demand a sooner appointment. If they refuse I would call daily to see if they have a cancelation.

That's ridiculous!!!

My doctor is going out of town so they couldn't get me in for 7 weeks--pushing me past the global period so now I have to pay for that fill where it would have been included. Really P's me off, but I guess this time it's understandable. But YOU, there's no excuse for that....they pushed off your appt. and other patients are going to be seen instead! It was probably a receptionist who couldn't think outside the box so I would call them back for sure!

If your doctor is fairly nearby, you could show up at his office and wait. They'll fit you in, particularly if you start telling other patients your story! You don't have to badmouth him, just create small talk about his difficult it is to get an appointment, so you're trying to work with him by waiting for him to be able to see you. The staff won't want the bad publicity for the doc, so they'll get you in to see him!

It will require an investment of time from you, but as long as he is actually in the office, I bet you'll get in to see him! Good luck!

thanks again for the advice everyone! i called first thing this morning and talked with someone different and voila, i am now rescheduled for thursday (the same day i was originally scheduled for) at 2:15 instead of 3:30. i still feel very frustrated with the dr's office, but i'm super grateful i was able to get a closer date!

That is great! I would be sure to tell both his nurse and the surgeon about this experience. I would be willing to bet that the surgeon doesn't know what his scheduling staff is doing. I have had that experience with my GP (irritated me so much so that I changed clinics).

I have only had to even wait in the lobby once for my appointment (about 45 minutes) because he had a biopsy that took longer than expected, he said. I told him I completely understand - if it was me getting a breast biopsy, I would want his undivided attention as well. But other than that one time, I usually sail right in - the nurse is waiting for me before I even get checked in!

Seriously, tell him what happened so he can correct it with his staff!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
