Totally normal. You need to police yourself until you get a fill. You might be able to eat anything but you shouldn't.

Same here...banded 11/16 and NO restriction after 2 weeks. My first fill isn't till 2/11! I was actually on the bed ready and numbed for a fill. I started telling her about how I get a lot of heart burn. Doc stopped and said that that was my restriction. My band is telling me to stop. Can u believe after that visit I haven't had one episode of heart burn!? Talk about being bummed haha

Totally normal and it's to be expected. Most people, myself included, didn't start noticing restriction until my 4th & 5th fills. Especially if your doctor is conservative with your fills like mine was/is.

A weight gain is common too. Try not to get discouraged. Start making good habits and choices now. You're REALLY early in the game and I PROMISE the weight will start falling off before you know it!!! I was where you were back in August, September, October. I thought for sure the band wasn't going to work...but everyone told me to hang in there and be patient!! They were right!!!!!!!!

Best of luck!!!!!!

I had no restriction until my third fill. Be aware it may take a couple months to get to a sweet spot. It wouldn't hurt to call your doc. and see if you can get in sooner. For now, I suggest you concentrate on eating the right foods (low carb, low fat, high protien). and eating slowly. Your portions may be larger than they will be with restrction but it should keep you from gaining anymore. Excersise is also a key component to weight loss. I highly reccomend you start if you haven't already. Start out slow such as a medium paced walk and gradually increase the duration/intensity. It's so tough to start but it will become second nature very quickly. I can't workout because of plastic surgery, boy do I miss it.

I agree with previous posters 5 fills before starting to see restriction. I think many doctors don't do enough educating people that yes you will be on a diet for several months. Because of this lack of specific instruction patients focus on the band controlling their portion sizes.

Also exercise is a important part of this journey.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
