pain and uncomfortable

Recommended Posts

I think it is pretty normal. Sounds like you have some gas still in there that will take some time to go away. And the pain at the incisions are normal, specially the port area.

Take your pain meds to stay on top of things. Relax, don't fight it. sleep as you can. Get up a little and move/walk as you can when you go pee, etc.

I turned on the cooking channel and slept most of two days. I had excruciating pain, like brain freeze the second day and my son made me take my meds and sleep. It is rough for a few days, then you get better and better!! Promise!

Sending hugs your way...

I to had surgery yesterday and I am horribly im horribly uncomfortable, I can't swallow the liquid pain meds because they made me vomit and nauseated. So I;m trying to stick it out through the night and hopefully my doctor will call me in some really small pills... Also the gas pains are the worst. The bad part is at one point today I asked myself what did I do? I pray its the pain making me feel like that .... I really hope it will get better in a few days

It is very normal. Just remember this is only temporarily. All I can say is walk as much as you can and sip, sip, sip.

Banding, the day after surgery I was sure I had made the wrong decision too!

As to the pain meds, you can take liquid Tylenol. It helps, it really does. I knew I couldn't take the codeine based drug so I had horse pills, they were HUGE! and had to be crushed in yogurt and milk. Anything sweet made me almost barf. If you can take unsweet hot tea, slip some tylenol into that and drink it.

The roughest part will only be a couple days. Then you will feel SO much better. You'll be weak and uneasy but you'll know you're on the way back to normal. I had mine on Thursday and was good by Sunday...walking around the house, talking. I could have gone to work on Monday. In a week you are pretty much normal and eating small meals.

Give yourselves some time, you are supposed to feel like yo been run over and beat up by something much meaner than you. Its down hill from here!

Get your rest, don't expect much, moan and cry if you need to. I cried a lot on Saturday, once I knew i was gonna live I was so happy. Cause up until Saturday I thought I had totally messed up my wonderful fat body and would never be without pain again. I was wrong. You guys will be good in a couple more days.

(((Hugs)))

I am relieved that we are all in the same boat. I too was banded yesterday. The gas pains for me are all on the left side. I've been snoozing off and on today and walking in between. The walking does help. Also drinking fluids and Gas-X strips have helped. As soon as I woke from surgery the port incision was the first thing I felt. I took the dressing off today and left the steristrips on. Believe it or not it feels better without my belly taped down.

Hang in there gang, I know we will all be doing cartwheels in no time. laugh.gif

Every 15 minutes, try to get up and walk for 5 minutes. Also, take Gas-X strips as stated on the box. I did both of these things, and the gas never settled. The stomach bloating will go down in a few days too.

Best of luck and welcome to the other side!

Thanks for the kind words, I guess I just need to patient and get through the first few days, as for pain relief my sweet husband went and find me some tylenol suppositories so hopefully that will help and not make me want to yak. But again thanks for the support it nice to know that there are other people in the boat with me .

I was banded yesterday as well and I'm in pain my but stomach isn't bloated, like it was yesterday. Was on a morphine pump overnight at the hospital, now I'm happy I spent the nigh, but my 3:30 this afternoon I was given my first does of liquid pain killers. It was nasty and I drank too much Water and that made me even more miserable.

I also itch like crazy, from the morphine.

Hang in there everyone - as the others have suggested, walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. It is very easy to get dehydrated without realizing it.

Gentle hugs and welcome to the other side.

I promise it gets better.

I was banded on 12/13/10 and I felt horrible the day I came home. The next day, the anesthesia wore off and my head felt better, but my chest and belly hurt more. I feel like I need to Burp and this pressure builds up in my chest but it stays there and it hurts. But then it slowly subsides, then a while later it happens again. I just took some liquid pain meds and its not as bad. I'm trying not to take the meds a lot and trying to walk around. I hate the pain....

yea banded monday, the gas is far worse than any abdominal pain i'm having. my biggest issue now is my shoulder, my neck and my stomach hurt, makes laying down hard, rolling over, that kinda stuff.

I stopped my hydrocodone this morning, and I feel pretty good, I sat a lot today at a desk and that seemed to make me gassier.

I had my surgery on the 15th...I felt great that day and yesterday... feeling pretty yukky today. I think the incisions are starting to heal and it's the tugging and pulling that are hurting.. I'm still puffy, and have this weird ...do I want to burp, throw up or am I hungry feeling going on! I don't want to choose the wrong one if you know what I mean!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
