How can I slow my eating down? I've tried putting down my fork and getting distracted but it still only takes me 15 minutes to eat. I thought it was suppose to take me about 25 to 30 minutes. Any suggestions??

I am the same way except it only takes me about ten minutes. This is definitely going to be one of my challenges. Bottom line is we are only eating a minimal amount of food and it just doesn't take that long to eat it. I have not had a fill yet so I am thinking that once I get some restriction I will be forced to eat slower and more carefully.

Something that has helped me, I am only post op 5 days but able to eat purees and mushies. I bought some little silverware at Crate n Barrel. Cocktail forks, spoons and the cutest little knives. I use small dishes and it really helps me. I also have a few silicone baby spoons that I like to nibble with, they scrape the sides of tiny bowls very well. If you have an iPhone, use the timer to beep every minute and thats when you can take another bite. I sometimes have to reheat my food, I don't like cold food. Crate N Barrel had lots of small porcelain or glass bowls, plates, and some tiny bakeware too.

I wouldn't worry about the time, as long as you're full and satisfied.

Well Said....:D

Try distracting yourself. It helps me to eat and be on the computer. It's hard when I go to my brother's for a meal. Then I try and distract myself by standing up and walking around in between bites. Good luck!

I, too, now like to eat with a cocktail fork. It used to be a treat at Thanksgiving, my Mom would let us eat our whole dinner with our cocktail forks. Now, it helps me with bite size and slowing down. I have not had my first fill yet, so I am in banster hell until Dec. 9. I can eat pretty much what I want and that is not a good thing....So the smaller plates, the measuring cup, and the cocktail forks are all helpful tools.

Well, it sounds like you might be chewing fast, if it's only taking you that long to eat. ...but, if you're not having any problems, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I usually try to go 30 minutes. I've had the TrueResults people tell me that I should throw out whatever I haven't eaten in 30 mintues, but I don't (I usually finish) because I've measured out my 1 cup of food and I'm going to eat it.

I've tried eating with a little fork and spoon after reading some of the comments and it has helped me tremendously.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
