I have run into an issue with my band and I don't know what to do... My last appointment three weeks ago it was decided not to add or subtract any Fluid because I was doing really well with the amount of restriction that I had. I lost 10 lbs in three weeks!! :lol: However, over this last three weeks I have been having a lot of trouble eating and drinking, no vomiting, but lots of getting stuck, pbing and sliming. And I have only dropped a couple of pounds. I don't understand why that is??? ;) What could cause this to happen? I go back in tomorrow and I need to decide if I want to have fluid removed. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Why don't you let the dr decide it any fluids need to be taken out? just be honest with them and tell them whats going on. i really doubt if you will get a fill if you are having probs like that. and please remember you are only to loose on average 1-2 lbs a wk. are you slime, pb and get stuck do you continue to eat normally or do you go to liquids and mushy's? anytime anything gets stuck you will have swelling and if you continue to have the same probs everything is going to get irritated and swollen. it's a complete circle over and over again.

I'm confused too...I just got banded on Oct. 26 and have lost 24 lbs. already. 10 Pre-Op and 14 Post-Op and I just found this site a couple of days ago.

Here is what I'm confused about: What is sliming and pbing? ;)

Sliming is when "slime" comes out when you "throw up". I guess it's mucus. PB is when stuck food comes out. Basically it's spitting up. The offending food comes out fairly gently. There aren't any heaves involved. I cough alot to make the food come up. I feel fine afterwards. At least this is my experience.

The band is a funny creature. Just when you think you know how it is going to behave, it throws a curve ball.

You say that 3 weeks ago your band started giving you problems. How long before that did you have your fill? I ask because it would take at least 2 weeks before my band showed any reaction from a fill.

It sounds like your band is too tight *or* you're not chewing well enough *or* not taking small enough bites *or* drinking with your meals. If you're taking small bites, chewing well, not drinking with meals and waiting between bites, then you might need a bit of an unfill as PBing and sliming on a regular basis is not desireable or necessary.

PB = progressive burping (http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/why-does-pb-happen-14053/)

sliming (or slimming) {pronounced slime-ing} = when used in the not so nice term refers to when food gets stuck and your body produces thick clear mucus (hence the slime reference) to help either ease the passage of the blockage but tends to precede vomiting

Def let your doc decided! They see this kind of stuff all the time!!

I've had this happen to me before too though! Try eating A LOT slower! Lots of times I eat too fast and dont feel full and then it hits me like a ton of bricks and I'm in the bathroom...not fun!!

Thank you all for your input. :) I really appreciate it. The doc decided to do a .8cc fill today and I am to call if I have any problems. I was told to re-introduce food slowly and to see what it is that is giving me problems and to avoid eating them, also that with each fill you may not be able to eat the same things as before. Sooooo... we will see what happens! I feel better, liquids are going down with no problem and I guess I will know better about food in a few days. I will let you know how it goes. The up side is that I was down another 5.2 lbs from last month and that was with no fill last month! :( I am now at 5.6cc in a 10cc band.

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
