November bandsters unite!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Nov. Bandsters! had my surgery on the 1st. I went home the sme day. I have been able to drive since Thursday. That made things much better. I am still having some pain after eating in my shoulder and neck, I think its gas, in the puree stage of eating. Not going to do Protein Shakes for meals anylonger. Remember the idea is to fill up and stay feeling full. If I drink my meal its defeating the purpose.

I'm also have some kind of rash on my stomach that itches. I think I may be having an allergic reaction to the super glue they put on the incisions. Anyone else have this problem? I am itching a lot at the incision sites too

The pain in your neck and shoulder is from the doctor not getting all the gas out of you belly. There is a nerve that runs up your side and ends in your shoulder and the extra gas puts presure on that nerve. You know they fill you up with gas to to be able to see. I have had this happen before and was in more pain from that then from the incision sites.

Are you sure they put "super glue" on your incisions. They usually stitch and put steri-strips over. What every you do don't itch it. It has been itching since day one I would say yest, but if it just started it could be a sign of infection. Either way I would call your doctor.

Topazz I too am being banded first thing in the morning. I'm a bit anxious and scared. After doing the liquid preop diet for a week and 2 days, I have lost close to 20 lbs. Normally, I would be thrilled, but losing this just reminds me that I can do it on my own. I've done it so many times before.

I have to think about it as something that may be able to crack my pattern. Lose, Gain, Lose Gain. I have to do something that is going to change the end result.

Best of luck to you!! Well everyone being banded this month and everymonth. We are stronger in our hearts and minds for recognizing the opportunity before us!!! Lets run with it!!!

Great date! Thats mine too.

So today marks the first full week on my liquid diet and I am down nearly 10 pounds. Too bad I couldn't stand this diet forever, cause then I wouldn't need the surgery.:rolleyes2:

I was just wondering how you are doing with the band and all? I was just banded on Nov. 8th and actually they also discovered a hiatal hernia and fixed that, as well. I am still sore but am now just starting to get a little hungry. I reallly didn't want to eat anything til now. And even now, Jello is enough. Hot tea works really well in the morning, too. Any thoughts or ideas you have about what has helped you? Thanks...

Dear Friends,

Good morning. Well I finally signed all my consent forms yesterday and completed my pre-op appointment. All scheduled for November 22, 2010. I am nervous and a bit apprehensive...all the things you need to remember!!! But, I know I found this place for a reason!

So yesterday was my 1.5 hour Pre-op class. And today is pre-op with the Dr. At least it is a good reason to get out of work early today. I have been trying to get work all this week done that needs to be done next week too. I'm tired.

One week to surgery!

Mel

Kimoki and others, we have a November Bandsters 2010 - post op thread going where there is discussion among folks who have been on this group about their post-op experiences. See http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/november-2010-bandsters-post-op-124006/#post1549876 and you might want to bookmark the link, and hang out with folks who have already had surgery!

Best,

Deb WS

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
