I had my lap-band surgery the day before Thanksgiving.  My husband decided to boycott Thanksgiving that year, because he did not want me to have to smell roasting turkey all day in the house.  I was a bit miserable with the gas pain and the little bit of food you are allowed to eat after surgery.  Those first 2 weeks were the hardest in my life.  I hated the gym, I hated that "this" would be my new life...not getting to enjoy food again.  Well, what a difference a year makes!!!!!!!!!!!  I am in the gym every day...my body is toned...and I am 53 years old.  The pains in my body just to get up a flight of stairs...now I do Zumba for an hour, kick-boxing, cardio and weights.  I no longer have asthma attacks, no more pumps to breathe, no more lipitor for high cholestrol and I feel young and sexy again!   I cannot thank God and Dr. Abkin for changing my life!  Giving me back my life!!! Giving me back years to enjoy and embrace aging as it should be.  I eat pretty much anything I want...but do keep an eye on amounts and if I'm "bad" for a meal, I try to be better for the next...its been a s-l-o-w process for me...but the gym is what is keeping me going...I've lost 53 lbs, not reached my goal of 80, but I will get there!!!  Look how bloated my before pic looks!!!  I am just sorry I didn't do this sooner!!!  Its work!!! But so worth it...learn all you can...follow your doctor's instructions and be patient with yourself...this will change your life!!! You have to do this for YOU and YOU only...
