Half-Way Through my Journey

Recommended Posts

When I was considering getting banded (and for weeks afterwards) I often looked through the forums for pictures. Although I still have about 60lbs to lose, I thought I would post a few pictures for other banders. It took some courage, but other's pictures helped me to be motivated and I wanted to share.

People often say it, but PLEASE take pictures if you can. Even if you did not in the beginning, it is never too late to start. There are many days where I feel frustrated, and looking at these pictures help. I often say there is only one thing about my apperance that looked better BEFORE getting my band, and that was my hair. It has become very dry and unhealthy and started falling out. In fact, I recently cut it very short. However, it will grow back, and I would re-do my surgery a hundred times if needed.

Hang in there!

These pictures were taken the night before my surgery (01/21/10) and on 08/01/10. I am about 65lbs down here.

You look great. I can tell a big difference. I'm also about halfway and I don't regret the surgery. It's not always easy and I have ups and downs, but the journey is worth it. Keep up the awesome work! We will get there!

YOU...LOOK...AMAZING!

And thank you for posting because I'm super inspired! I'd say we probably started out closer to the same size and I'm almost halfway there. (I'm about 5' 8 or 5' 9" - depends on who measures me) Your photos are inspiring to me because hopefully those are the results that I'm experiencing. How many sizes have you dropped? You can tell a HUGE difference - that is just so awesome!

I'm also like you in terms of my hair - it's thinning, has gotten dry and I cut about 5 1/2 inches off of it, so it's shorter now. Hopefully it will grow back soon and again - I would not have traded this surgery for anything. I'd gladly do it again and again.

Congrats again. YOU LOOK AWESOME!!!!

You look fantastic! Work it, girl! Thanks for the suggestions on pictures, too. I will be sure to take plenty. It's crazy that I have avoided full body pictures for so long, now I will be eager to take them before surgery..haha!

You look great. I was like you and initially did not want to take pictures. I have taken a few along the way and am keeping them for myself right now to remind myself that I have made progress. I am also halfway to my goal. 44.5 down and 36.5 to go. Let's keep each other motivated.

:rolleyes2:You do look great. I also was banded back in March 2010 and have now lost 58.1lbs and I have 28.9lbs more to lose. I was never much for full body pictures or any pictures for that matter before I had my surgery but I do have a few I can use. I now do not mind getting my picture taken because I feel good about the way I look. I agree please lets keep each other motivated.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
