August Rush in bandland!

I hope its ok that I started this thread over on the post-op side! Just wanted to check in to see how those who have been banded are doing?

Im 5 days post op and Im HUNGRY. This all liquid business is really getting annoying. I think Im dehydrated too but Im going in to see my doctor today just to make sure everything is ok. I was feeling nauseous and still running a low grade fever. I talked with the doc last night and she said she didn't seem too worried about it but wanted me to come in today just to followup. Im going to ask her about starting some applesauce, pudding or thinned out cream of wheat. I need something more solid in my stomach.

To top everything else off- Im having female issues and bathroom issues. I started my period a week early 3 days before surgery even though Im on the pill and technically not supposed to start until this week. And I have a yeast infection from the antibiotics I got in the hospital. And then with nothing but liquids coming out I have a hemorrhoid. SHOOT ME NOW.

And the worst was last night when I was taking care of some lady business and was trying to be real gentle with my insicions so I didnt stretch too much and hurt them- well I got the MOTHER of all cramps in my lower abdomen (down below my belly button) that would not go away. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain and it hurt so bad that I really thought I was going to black out from the pain. After what seemed like 10 years (but really only 30 secs) things started getting better. But I called my husband upstairs and had him lay down iwth me just to make sure I wasnt going to pass out.

Anyways, after last night Im glad Im going in to see the doctor. I think I need to get some gatorade to drink because im probably dehydrated but just want to check with her to make sure its ok. And hopeing she will clear me to eat a little something. Im tired of feeling so weak and tired all the time.

Peace out,

Kelly:lol:

Had my post-op today and everything is healed. He said my first fill is 4 weeks off!! 6 weeks from surgery!! He wants to make sure everything is settled and the band can't slip before he puts constriction on it. He also said I can finally do some light exercise. I guess he is more conservative than most of you on here. It feels like a slow start. However he said even though there is no restriction on the band it is still more restrictive than if I didn't have it and to practice chewing and chewing and chewing. lol.

I don't know if it's in my mind but i do feel that . Even though I have no fluid in my band I do feel like if I gulp too fast or eat just a couple more sips of soup I feel it, so I believe what your Dr said.

Yeah, I feel it too. I am only eating 4-5 oz of food at each meal and I'm full so it is working. I'm just wanting it to go faster. I guess, better safe than sorry.

Has anyones Dr put them on a 2 week liquid diet like mine did? My diet consists of clear liquids, broths, and lets not forget popciles and jello...that is IT!! I have been very good with doing this but I'm STARVING and it kills me to even think that I have another full week of this to go. If I stick it through it will be a total of 16 days straight of pure liquids...can it get any worse?:o

I'm reading everyone elses posts and it looks like a week at the most.

Wanted to add baning date

My doctor says 3 weeks of fluids only and two of mushies after that and then regular food. I am on my 9th day of fluid. I am doing well and making sure I get 70 grams of protien and no sugar or carbs. I have lost 1 pond a day so far.

my doctor also put me on 2 weeks of liquids...i'm barely going on my 3rd week and now i'm starting with more thicker liquids like pudding, yogurt, cottage cheese and thicker Soups.....it is hard but i pulled through it...i lost 15lbs the first 2 weeks...i know the weight loss is going to halt until i get my fill, but i'm trying to get as much Protein and Water as i can without overfilling myself and gaining the weight back....good luck!

No Protein?????

i'll be using both.

I use both also

My scale is right on with the doctors.

My doctor isn't strict with liquids, but I can't use a treadmill for 4 weeks. I'm basically allowed to walk and ride the bike.

Any idea when you can start doing sit-ups?

Hi Everyone!! I was banded on Aug 23rd!! I am on a liquid diet till I see the doc on Sept 8th I am not hungry at all and kind of have to force myself to drink!! I do have blisters around my incisions from the tape that was on them, and was constipated so I called the doc this morning and I was told to take miralax and to put hydrogen peroxide 1/2 strength on my blisters. The first couple of days I had a lot of gas, but I feel great now and I stopped taking my pain med during the day yesterday and only took one pill last night, so the pain is definetly going away ) I am so happy that I am on the other side of bandland so I can start my new healthy life )

My doctor had me on 3 weeks of liquids..finally finished with that! Now I am on my first week of pureed/soft food for 3 weeks. 2 more weeks and then "real" food!
