  1. Congrats!! I was also happy when i fit back into my size 20 jeans this past week...before i had gained so much weight that i would only wear stretch pants because my old jeans didn't fit anymore....i can wear jeans again!! WOOO HOOO
  2. same here...my surgery was 8/13 but my fill is not until oct. My doctor told me at my follow up appointment that not everyone needs a fill. If you can loss the weight without a fill than they don't fill it, if you feel like you need more restrictions than they fill it. I have also been ok with my eating and eat very little...in fear that i will mess things up....
  3. I'm starting to miss food...lol....i'm going on my third week and i had my mom make some indian lentils and blend it so it's like soup so i can at least eat something appetizing...i see my doctor this wednesday, so i'm hoping he'll allow me to start eating things like tuna and fruits...something other than liquids....kinda getting tired of liquids...
  4. my doctor also put me on 2 weeks of liquids...i'm barely going on my 3rd week and now i'm starting with more thicker liquids like pudding, yogurt, cottage cheese and thicker Soups.....it is hard but i pulled through it...i lost 15lbs the first 2 weeks...i know the weight loss is going to halt until i get my fill, but i'm trying to get as much Protein and Water as i can without overfilling myself and gaining the weight back....good luck!
  5. i feel you on the workouts....i got my surgery aug. 13th and i still feel weak...i'm gonna try and do some walking on the treadmill each day to regain my energy....i might have to wait until i start some solid foods....
  6. that's strange they usually ask you if you feel ok enough to go home....what time did you go in for surgery? i only went home the same day because i hate staying in a hospital and i felt ok enough to leave....my surgery was at 10am and i check out at 9pm.....made a last minute decision to go home instead of staying over night....
  7. I just had my surgery on 8/13/2010 and i'm still on liquids. It's hard but once you stick to it and get use to it after a week you kind of get the hand of it. It's not as bad. However i'm excited for my 3rd week where i can include some pudding, cottage cheese, and a thicker Soup.... As far as lapband vs. gastric...i had my heart set on lapband, but the bariatric doctor that i was referred to was completely against it and tried to move me over to gastric...he gave me some time to think about it, but for me i stuck with lapband...i also agree that i sometimes have a sweet tooth and i need my sugar high even if it's a sugary product that has low sugar...i need something sweet....i've heard with people who have had gastric they can't even have sugar...a friend of my sisters actually passed out when she drank lemonade...and this was after 2yrs of having gastric surgery...that completely freaked me out...a lot of people tend to have less complications with lapband compared to gastric....my doctor also said that you lose weight faster with gastric than you do with lapband...i told him that i'm not looking for what can make me lose the most weight...but what can push me into changing my lifestyle in eating better foods, exercising...i don't want something like gastric to take over me completely where i'm loosing weight without working out....that's why most people who have done gastric have loose skin....because you loose weight super fast....another thing is i also don't like that fact that they cut your stomach...it's permanent and can not be reversed...that freaks me out...i actually ended up changing doctors and found someone who was completely for lapband....it's only been 1 week in, but i'm hoping for some amazing results a year from now...i can't wait to start working out and having this weight drop...i've already notice changes in a week.... I have only told my family (mom, dad, sisters, brother) and my roommate. My roommate was the one that suggested lapband for me and i'm glad she did....she has been my inspiration....and all i can say is that she was the one that recommended to me not to tell people because some will agree other will not...the skinny ones are the ones that don't think you need it because they don't know how it feels to be big and not have clothes fit you the right way and not be happy with yourself....fat friends will say you shouldn't do it because they are probably concerned that you will now be thinner and what will happen to having a partner in crime in the obese club.....that's why it's good NOT to tell people and if you do don't let there comments get to you...do it for yourself.... Good Luck!

I had my surgery on Friday Aug. 13th and i was thinking the same thing, when is this pain going to go away. I guess every ones healing process is different. I to started my period 5 days in and i'm so irritated right now...i don't know if the pain is related to the surgery or to my cramps...lol sucks!
  9. I am also not telling anyone at work about my lapband, however they do know that i am going through surgery for a health issue that i have not disclosed to them. So at least they realize that i will be in a delicate condition when i come back to work. My surgery is also on the 13th, i had my blood test today and all paperwork done. Can't wait!!
  10. Where on the same day Aug. 13th...woohooo can't wait!!
  11. Thanks, it's great to hear positive responses. One thing i'm worried about is adjusting to it and the eating. I took 2 weeks off from working..hoping it would be enough time to recover....
  12. Hi all!! I wish i could of started posting earlier once i started the pre-op process. My surgery is on 8/13/10 and i'm freaking out. I've never had surgery in my life nor was i ever in the hospital. This has been a loooog journey for me and even longer once i have the surgery. I've gotten mixed reviews on LAP-BAND® compared to gastric bypass. A lot of people say it doesn't work as good. I just don't want my stomach sliced in half...ewww!....I have been writing a journal to keep up with my thoughts through this process. Wish me luck!
