If my BMI is 41.2 and I have no comorbidities what do you think the chances of me being approved will be?? Anyone been in this same situation?

I think it depends on your insurance requirements JulyJen. I don't have any real health issues "requiring" the surgery right now either, but my insurance requires a bmi of 35 with comorbidity issues, or a bmi over 40. I have a bmi over 40 so I qualified. Give your insurance company a call and ask. One thing is for certain, you'll never know if you will be approved until you apply for approval. I started the process a little over a month ago, just to see where it would take me, always thinking I had the option to not have the surgery even if I was approved. I go into surgery on Monday. Scared...but excited...good luck!

Your chances are really good. Most of the time if your BMI is 40 or over you aren't required to have any co morbidities.

Just call your insurance company and ask what there requirements are. Mine required a BMI of 40 with no co morbidities or a BMI of 35 with at least one co morbidity.

Good Luck!

Same here - no co-morbids, but bmi < 40. I was approved no problem (after 3 month diet). Good luck!

Check the part of the board dedicated to insurance questions. I had problems getting approved and there was so much info regarding my insurance plan on this board!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
