One week Post-op and Here I Am

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon;

I have had an amazing week. Surgery Thursday AM, overnight at the hospital, and home Friday afternoon. No Pain, just gas discomfort. Took naps friday, saturday & Sunday. Was able to sleep on my side friday night - no problem. I now have no gas probs, and I have sneezed several times with no pain. I can bend over and tie my shoes etc. I am not bragging, but it is so opposite of what I was expecting.

I hope this is an encouragement to anyone who is contemplating this surgery. Stay positive and follow the rules.

Regards

Hal

Congrats! So glad to hear you had an easy time! I think we all wish for that :thumbup: I'm curious...did you work out a lot before your surgery? I think your fitness level going in seems to play a role in your recovery...just an observation :thumbup:

Hello 2beskinny;

I have not worked out at all before the surgery. Not bragging, but I am a real estate appraiser, and that is a very sedentary work. I dont believe it is anything I did in preparation, other than a very positive attitude. The positive extends to admitting the truth that I really regretted that I had to resort to this operation to gain control of my life.

I told my wife that I wanted to be the poster child of LabBand surgery. I intend/ed to follow the Dr's orders to the "T".

I believe in research. One of my "sayings" is "If you don't have the answer yet, you need to do more research" I keep reading about people who are anxious on these forums. I have also said elsewhere that knowledge dispells fear. We only fear the unknown. There is so much information out there about this operation, there is nothing that should remain unknown.

I am sorry "2", you asked a simple quick question and you get a sermon back.:thumbup:

Regards and best of luck

Hal

Hal - you're doing great, congratulations! You're an inspiration to those of us that are not yet banded. I'm in the information gathering phase and have two meetings scheduled for the next few weeks with two different doctors.

My concerns stem more from the idea of throwing up and getting stuck, which seems to happen to everyone at least once, to some it happens often. When I think of that, I cringe. We travel a lot and eat out often, I can't imagine running to the restroom to throw up.

Please continue to post often, I'll be anxious to see how you're doing. I'm a worrier at heart, I want that positive attitude that you have!

Linda

Got banded on Thurs 15th with very similar results as Hal so far. only a gnawing "hungry" feeling that the liquid diet will not satisfy. Probably all in my head at this point but I am not looking forward to the next 2 weeks on liquids. cant wait for my first fill, really want to get on with this deal.

Feeling pretty good, gas pains are almost gone, I also can bend over and tie my shoes. did nothing special before, I HATE to exercise and m not looking forward to doing that either but I think as the weight comes off I may be able to get used to it. I will do it. not going through the band thing and go back to the old ways. It's time to pay the piper so to speak. all the years of care free eating have come to an end.

I plan to go back to work on Monday, but I sit at a computer most of the time so it will not be a problem for lifting or physical work that could jeopardize my band or stitches.

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
