maintanance question

yes this is far away...but. For those of you who have reached goal. Do you stay at the same fill level? How do you stop from losing weight?

My friend lost over 150# , and i believe she had some fill removed and is maintaining nicely.....

I havent needed to have fill removed. There's a couple of reasons for that.

The main one is as I continued to lose ever so slowly from my final fill, the band got looser as is normal. It just happened over a much longer time period than it did at the start. Eventually the weight loss kind of petered out, so I never hit "goal" with a bang, I just kind of trickled into a situation where I thought "well, this is obviously where its going to stay". Luckily that was at a low enough BMI to make me happy.

The second reason, and this is important to remember, is that I think the biggest problem with the band is that it tends to make you over time prefer less healthy foods. The effort taken to eat fibrous wholesome foods (like a wholegrain salad sandwich for instance) just makes those foods not seem quite so appealing. I know that I pack more calories in with slider foods these days, even in preference to meals when I'm busy. So the calories have crept up a little even without lessening my restriction.

I am at goal but never found my sweet spot due to fills and unfills for one reason or another. I just may have found it this time, though. My goal is to be filled enough to maintain my wt without struggling and not be hungry. I still journal (on paper!) my food and drink and exercise so if the scales move more than 2 pounds either direction I can read my log and figure things out.

Best wishes.

Mimi

I am at goal and I have been getting unfills...4 unfills so far. Mainly because I want to be able to eat more types of food, and try to maintain by using less of my lapband, and more of my brain. So far, so good. Been maintaining since January. I won't say it's easy.....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
