I spoke to my PA today and she wants me to come in tomorrow and get a very small amount of Fluid taken out (she said like 0.1 or 0.2 cc's). This kinda freaks me out. :) I don't want to hurt myself in the long run, but I really have worked so hard and don't want to see any of the weight I've lost again. And of course right back into bad habits I fell because I was feeling sorry for myself. I went to Panera and actually ate 1/2 of a Sierra Turkey sandwich, most of a cup of Soup, and a french baguette...and I am going for an UNFILL!! I really hope that the dilation is causing the heartburn/reflux and once that is cleared up I can go get what was taken out put back in and then some! It's so weird...there are times I am lucky to eat like 4 oz's and then I have moments like tonight that was full of bread and no problems! Jeez though I can't believe how much my mind is flipping just thinking of that teeny tiny 0.2cc's being gone. It's like I went from obsessing over food to obsessing over my weight. I need to throw out the scale now. I already step on it every time I'm in the bathroom (and trust me I wish this was an exaggeration). GRRRRRRRR Thanks for letting me vent...hopefully didn't scare you all with my craziness lol:tongue_smilie:

Oh sorry...I forgot to add that the PA was mostly concerned about the choking on the acid while I'm sleeping because she said that she doesn't want me to aspirate (sp?) on it and get it in my lungs and turn into pneumonia. Can't argue that it's for the best, but I still don't wanna!!!! :)

Denise, I'm glad to hear they can save your tooth with the bone grafting. I'm sorry it costs so much. Any time you go to a specialist it's cha-ching. When you open the door to enter their office it makes a cash register sound.

I knew it wouldn't be pretty when I said to the dentist's assistant, "this sounds expensive!" She said, "well it's okay, you have insurance!"

Uh, no, I don't! Wah!

The periodontist said he'll make sure the tooth isn't cracked, which he doesn't think it is. He tapped on it, and looked hard at the x-ray. I don't have hot or cold sensitivity. Then we'll go from there.

Stacie,

Did she say that doing an unfill will help the dilation? If it helps that and the reflux, I'd say you need to give it a try!

I have days where I can eat more and days where I can eat less. I believe that to be a fact of life. When I look at my normal weight friends, that is how they eat.

My surgeon also told me that the stomach moves within the confines of the band a little bit, giving us more or less restriction at any given time.

It's supposed to help the dilation...she thinks it was caused by I got stuck once and really irritated my stomach and the dilation occured then. She told me it was extremely minimal and they didn't do anything before because of how small it was they were hoping it would go back on its own, but since I am still having some problems that letting just a little Fluid out should take off some of the pressure and let the esophagus go back to normal. FINGERS CROSSED! But again, did I tell you I don't wanna??? lol Good luck with your surgery! I hate dentists! I really should go more often. I have insurance and should use it.

Hey Stacie,

I know how you feel about not wanting the unfill. But really, you might feel SO much better! Plus, you might have better restriction when everything is healed.

I tell ya, when I went for my fill, I swore to DH I just wanted a tiny one. Then she asked if I wanted .25cc or .5cc. I was darned tempted to get .5! And I know I have decent restriction. WHY in the world would I want .5?? Sometimes it is hard to resist that "fill 'er up" mentality! We want our money's worth, darn it!

Here's a dental insurance horror story. I had a dental HMO. They would only have their cleaning schedule open for the next 4 months. You had to wait 2 months before you could call for your next one. Then they'd be booked and you had to go on a waiting list. So, even though you'd get 2 cleanings a year covered, you'd be lucky to get one done.

Then I broke a tooth. I called. They brought me in right away, looked at it, and asked if I was in pain. I said not yet. They said we'll see you in two months to do the work! My CO-PAY for what they wanted to do was around $900.00. Total bill? $2300.00!!!

So, I called my previous dentist. He got me in the next day, evaluated it, gave me a cost of $623.00 cash and did the work the day after.

Yeah, I never used that insurance again!

Anyway, day 3 on antibiotics...not much improvement. It IS better, cause I am not complaining all the time. But it is still swollen and sore.

And I am wanting to chew! This liquid stuff after a fill, it sux! :)

Well..she took out 0.2 cc's taking me to 4 cc's. I am supposed to go back in a month and get another UGI to see if things got better/worse/stayed the same, and then once she looks at the UGI we can decide if I want to fill er back up or if I need more taken out. I just hope that this works and nothing else needs done and this is just the end of it. I just noticed today that I weight now what I did on my wedding day Memorial Day Weekend 7 years ago! WOW! Dress fits again (cept in the darn boobs that aren't shrinking...makes it hard to buy shirts!)

Denise-glad you are at least feeling some relief. I hate liquid diets!

Wow it seems everyone has a lot going on!

Stacie: I am hoping everything goes. well

Denise: dentist=devil in my book:eek: I admire you--I too am terrified of dentist.

Betsy: I am glad you are back on the mend and continuing to do you. Typical low-life behavior--they can't beat you so they try to make you join them and drag you down. Susan Taylor says "Everyone is not healthy enough to have a front row seat in your life." You may not just have to send him to the back row, but cancel his show all together! The fact is you have been the star of the show:thumbup:

Waiting patiently for September 28. Been tighter though--potatoes, dough bread, sphaghetti, and dry meats do not go down as smooth. Can't figure it out:confused:

Stacie, do you journal or weight & measure your food? I don't, too much like a diet, but now might be a time to do it. To limit intake into your pouch and avoid a gain seems a good idea? I really hope things heal up for you! Stomach troubles suck. My sister and niece have bad GI problems. My sis can't believe I operated myself into potential trouble.

I want to CHEW people!!! Wah

I had cream of mushroom Soup last night for dinner. A bit of chewing with the tiny mushroom bits, but not much.

Woke at 4am today, the side of my face is hurting. Yes, the side with the infection. Not bad, just aching. Enough to tick me off.

Shad...nothing to admire here, if I weren't in pain, I'd not be going! :) That is sort of what got me in this mess in the first place. But I only skipped one cleaning, so maybe not.

Both of my parents had horrible gums and teeth. Mom was in full dentures at 35. Dad had uppers in his 40's. So I guess I am doing well at nearly 47. Yeah! That's my story!

Well, big Friday! Woohoo! Labor Day weekend, and I am on liquids. Sheesh, I thought that was over when I did Super Bowl Sunday on my pre-op liquid. Dang it.

The good news? DH is helping his brother move to Las Vegas this weekend. I opted out and have the house to myself!!! Me and Butters bonding! Anyone up for a pool party????? Margaritas are liquid!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning everyone.

Denise-- HOLY CRAP on the dentist! Boy do I hate to spend money that way.

Stacie-- I am having a hard time feeling sorry for you in the boob department. You get to be skinny and still have big boobs, sheesh!

Crystl-- You havent given us an update on how your doing lately. (Or if you did I missed it)

Betsy-- Thinking about you.

I have some strange things going on in my life. Someone has been getting in my office at night and taking petty cash. My husband and I are the only people with keys other than the landlord, who said they changed the locks before they rented us the building. So I installed a security camera yesterday and we will know soon. Maybe I am sleepwalking. :)

My husband called me a couple of days ago and I could tell he was excited. So he tells me he found an old memory card and there is a picture of me on it. Then he tells me "And you were FAT!" so I was like "um, yeah" then he told me something I thought was really sweet. "I didnt know you were fat! I knew you were a little overweight but I didnt realize you were fat!" We met in 2001 and he had never seen me when I was thin. I guess love is really blind. Here is my new found fat pic with my son and one of us that is a few months old, he has changed some too.

Knock, knock, knock...Heeellloooooo! Anyone home???

Leigha--the incredible shrinking woman! Or is the rest of the world growing?

You know, when they made the second Harry Potter movie, they had to make some of the sets bigger so the kids would look smaller. There was only one year between the first and second books, but more than that between filming and the kids had grown.

My DH is in Las Vegas helping his brother move in. I am home alone and loving it. When your spouse is retired, he is ALWAYS home. It's not that I don't love him, but alone time is nice!

He'll be home tomorrow. I have the gum surgery Wednesday. The antibiotics have helped a bunch, but there is still an issue back there. For which I am kind of thankful, as it proves I need the surgery, else I'd be tempted to cancel and not spend the money. Then I'd be worse off, I know!

Fill update! Down a pound! Oh yeah!!!

Dear Steve-Thank you for allowing me to have a fully enjoyable holiday weekend at the lake with my family while having PMS and not trying to kill me. Maybe you and I can work this out after all.

Love and kisses

Hello all! Yes, I'm still here alive and well but not kicking...lol...had first knee replacement surgery and am still recovering. I have not done well with my weight but haven't gained as much as I would have preband. They had to completely empty my band for the surgery and I am still not back to my correct restriction. I go back to the surgeon next week and I'm sure I've gained. I feel just awful about it but as soon as they took out my Fluid the hunger returned. That just goes to show you the Lap Band really does work...for sure. I'm sorry I haven't written. I've been in hiding on FB playing that silly game...I read a little bit of the thread although there's no way I can completely catch up...too much. I think of you often but like I said I have some "shame" issues about gaining weight back. Hopefully this next fill will give me my dang restriction back! My knee is still recovering. I go to the YMCA for Water aerobics, recumbent bike and the weight machines 3 days a week. Just started driving last week. It's been 10 weeks since my surgery. It's a hell of a surgery to go through,,, I gotta say. Anyway, I will promise to check in more often...I miss you all...lots of love, dottie ps. I updated my ticker to the correct weight also.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
