What test did your doc require pre op?

Recommended Posts

FWIW- I did not have to undergo anesthesia for my upper GI.

I know they sometimes give a local for an Upper GI Endoscopy, but I just had a regular GI where I drank the stuff, rolled around on the table and tried not to burp. All done in 15 minutes and allowed to return to normal activity immediately after. Drove myself to and from the procedure.

BCBS IL required a psych eval. My doctor requires blood work, EKG, chest xray and pulmonary function test which he's not making me do for whatever reason.

Thanks everyone for your input. You are so right i will jump thru hoops to get my surgey. I have taken all the test the insurance rquired and I have my approval from them. Now it is just a matter of having the doc required test and setting a date.

I had to have an upper GI before my doc would give me a date (just to check for any hiatal hernia problems or esophageal dysmotility issues. As much as I griped about it, since I had no symptoms at all, it turned out I had a huge hiatal hernia he had to fix while he was in there.) And I had to pass the psych eval.

After I passed that, I had to have a PFT (breathing test), EKG, and some blood work at my pre-op testing day, and a pregnancy test the day of surgery.

My dr required the following: psych eval, going to a support group once a month until surgery, lots of blood work, upper GI (to check for hernias etc), chest xray, ekg, also had to go to informational meeting, nutrition class, and 1 other I dont recall what they called it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
