Tanning bed
Not cool Spartan...Although I agree with you that tanning beds are not great ridiculing someone is not going to make them listen to you and in fact will often cause them not to hear what good advice you may have.

A few Questions
Not a coffee drinker so can't help with that one. Dr. Appt- I was out and about the second day, going over bumps in the car hurt like hell but I survived. I would bring paper to take notes because I was definitely still a bit foggy in the head from the pain meds & anesthesia (although I didn't realize it at the time) I didn't stay over night- surgery at 1:30ish home by 7ish (I think- that foggy thing again)- just make sure your hubby is there to baby you that night

Embarassed
I did this a few times when I first started solids- but it wasn't because I was hungry, it was because I was a little late in realizing that I was full and as was said by others, it would hurt to swallow. When I was on liquids I did it once.. the girls at work were eating something I love(d) and I just wanted the taste so I chewed and spit.

First fill
Could it be muscle mass gain or maybe not enough calories? Or maybe just a plateau... Hope the scale gets moving again soon!

How important are the rules really?
This post really needs to be deleted. It has really brought out some ugliness in a lot of people on here. People I otherwise find to have refreshing and helpful answers. As fat people I would have thought we were above the bullying and teasing since we are the most discriminated against group in America (perhaps the world). If people want to feel bad about themselves they can listen to morning radio or a comedian or simply go to the mall and sit in the food court and watch people look at them and eyeball what they eat.... This should be a place where folks can come and be accepted- if you don't agree find a nice way to say it or simply ignore and move on. Mods please delete this post because if I came here for the first time and stumbled upon it I would be very afraid to ever post for the fear of being treated poorly- and I think that would be a shame since it is a useful and wonderful board otherwise.

4th of July Challenge!
Nothing this week-- my body is weird lol... it seems to hold and then just drop a big number..then hold. Only 0.5 to go until my goal so hopefully I will drop that before the 4th.

I'm in Surgery Hell.
Hang in there- This will pass and you will be so excited to see the weight falling off. In hindsight I would have loved to been forced to stay on liquids longer than I was because it seems like those who stayed on liquids longer lost a lot of weight in those first few post op weeks. Good Luck!

In need of veggie ideas
I second the frozen veggies dishes- they are tasty and on sale a lot. . Raw peppers are also good- try the red and orange and yellows for sweeter flavors.

7 days post op and I am STRUGGLING !!
First off congratulations on quitting smoking- best thing you have done for yourself and I know from personal experience it is very hard!!! The post op period is weird- all these changes in your body- having to learn what is what but it comes and it gets easier. As far as having soups in the beginning- basically you are on liquids because they are easier to digest. This puts less strain on your stomach which gives time for it to heal and for the band to settle into place securely. Many folks will tell you the post op is not a time for losing but a time for healing. As far as not losing a lot- did you lose a lot in your preop diet? Also remember that during your surgery you were pumped full of liquids- you may still be holding on to that. Hope you feel better!

dieing for some pasta
I went out to eat and ordered chicken noodle soup (only soup I liked on menu)- it had little alphabet noodles- I didn't eat many of them but it went down fine...

Painful Burps
I definitely had pain that felt like it was stuck post op... not super bad but would twist my body to work it out. Painful laughing for sure!!! I would hug a pillow when coughing or laughing- helped, not 100% but good enough I wasn't allowed Protein shakes until after the first 10 days (was on clears) so can't help there...

Not one more bite!
I know exactly what your are talking about! I used to be able to eat so much food in one sitting.... I think back to when I would see skinny folks just eat a few bites and be done and how jealous I was! Now that is me

protein shots
I tried quite a few. My favorite is the ProSlam 45- I got them at GNC. My least favorite were also from GNC- Whey something- UCK. I have heard good things about the ones in Walmart... A trick that I learned on here is to add a little sugar free drink mix to make them taste better. Congrats on being so close to goal!!!

Possible Infection????

Gaaaaaaasssssss?
I don't know the answer to all your questions but as far as gas goes I was banded almost two months ago and I still am gassier than pre band. I have noticed certain foods are worse and also when I am PMSing...

Exercise Goals
So I have been struggling or rather slacking a bit with my exercise... I have decided that if I post my weekly goals than maybe I will be more accountable to myself since I don't like failing in public  Anyone is welcome to join me Next week I am shooting for 150 minutes of exercise. I will post my progress periodically through the week. Week starts tomorrow! (Sunday)

How important are the rules really?
Wow this certainly is an interesting thread... As an RN myself I too can attest to the fact that doctors are not gods... doctors make mistakes... The first surgeon I went to admitted to me that if he knew then what he knows now he wouldn't of done half the bypasses he did because of the long term affects.. I have also seen doctors prescribe the wrong medications, doctors miss labs etc etc.... I could never blindly follow a doctor- because they are human just like me and I make mistakes as do they..

Pureed Foods = Disgusting!
Yeah putting a whole meal in a blender does sound gross!!! When I got to soft foods however I did put chicken and fish in the food processer to make a sort of salad- but it comes out like tuna.. Good Luck!!

Do I need a fill....or what am I doing wrong
Hmmmm eventually you will need a fill. I would say stay away from simple carbs like potatoes for now- if you are going to do carbs first do veggies and if still hungry have a whole grain. Also maybe increase exercise?
