  1. Wow you look great!! Kudos to you
  2. Does anyone know if you are allowed to have sugar free sucking candy when you are on clear liquids or full liquids?
  3. Any of those powdered sugar free packets you can add to Water.... propel, wyler's etc... I second Betsy on the popsicles- my throat was very sore from the anesthesia tube so they helped a lot....
  4. So facing five more days on Clear liquids I got a little sad... I needed some flavor changes... too much berry, fruit punchy or chicken brothy...bleh I have had enough... So after taking my son and his friend to the movies (my first movie without popcorn and I survived YEAH) ... I went to the store to buy a blender. I decided to cruise the food section just to see if there was anything else I could possible get that had a different taste than these damn clear liquids I have been drinking. Almost immediately I found some root beer flavoring (15 kcal tablespoon) that I could add to a slushie! AWESOME! I also picked up some werthers sugar free sucking candies but I am not sure if I can eat them or not (anyone know?) But the best thing... this is huge for me... As I was cruising the aisles and believe I went down all the food ones except the chips (my downfall) I saw so many things that I love to eat.. Peanut Butter m&ms (on sale), frozen pizza, Pasta dishes and I looked at them longingly but then I realized that even if I try I can't eat this things-- because of my band... it was such a relief.... There was no internal struggle anymore because I can't reach inside and take my band out to fit a pizza down there... What a freaking relief... This is why the band is better than any diet for me... It takes the option away .... now let me return to my 30 kcal root beer slushie (that I won't finish)
  5. My surgery was Tuesday and I was allowed to remove mine yesterday... The steri strips I just wait for them to fall off on their own.
  6. Melissa- I would go by what they told you on the phone yesterday. If you got the letter yesterday as well that means it was mailed out latest the day before so what they told you on the phone is the most current. Good Luck!
  7. A lot of overweight people have hiatal hernias-- especially if they (like I do) carry a lot of weight in the abdomen. All the fat pushes on the stomach and pushes it up into the diaphragm--- when you over eat it does get worse.
  8. Catherine- I'm a side sleeper... the first night I was miserable everywhere and in every position (my surgery was in the afternoon)... the next night I finally found a great position by sleeping at the edge of my couch with my feet on the ottamon... the next night I was back in bed sleeping on my side! My port is somewhere under my right boob (I cant tell just yet and don't want to be poking around until more healed) so it doesn't affect my side sleeping... Also, I may have read it wrong but it sounds like you are gonna be solo for the first night? I highly recommend you find someone to be with you because the first night you will be sore, you may have gas pain and it's great to have someone to help- I couldn't bend for the first 2 days without getting dizzy...
  9. Hey Tony- I am drinking Isopure and a Protein bullet for protein... Good luck with your drive tomorrow!
  10. I feel great today! I still have pains in my abdomen and it still hurts to take a deep breath- but other than that I feel good. I haven't taken any pain meds other than liquid tylenol and 1 tylenol with codiene last night since wednesday night and I honestly think that has helped. I would say my biggest complaint today is wanting to have something besides clear liquids!! It seems like a lot of you can have protein shakes but I am not able until after my post op visit next week...
  11. Kerri- Sorry to hear about your IGNORANT boss. All the docs I work with are 100% supportive of my band. One of the surgeons even told me that a peer of her's had it done and looks fantastic 2 years out... SO screw your boss. As a healthcare professional should she be supporting you.
  12. I like the ProSlam45 fruit punch flavor from GNC the best- the other ones at GNC were not as good- these taste like Jello to me. I went to Walmart today and here the ones you are talking about are $12... I didn't buy them cause I have a ton of the other ones...
  13. So I am just curious what happened at your first post op visits? Did your surgeon examine your incisions? Did they talk about your diet? Or was it just a quick- how are you doing blah blah...
  14. Banded 27th (with hernia repair) and still sore... but the soreness has changed today... The worst today is around the port site and my lungs still hurt when I take a deep breath. Coughed up some NASTY stuff yesterday.. Also having some muscle pain in my leg which freaks me out cause I keep thinking I have a blood clot. I went to the store today and walked around which helped a lot. As far as eating (or drinking rather) I am only doing clear liquids- I couldn't even fathom drinking a Protein shake! The protein shooter/bullet things are easy for me 3oz.. 45 grams protein. I also went to GNC today and bought some more of those figure I'll try some other flavors. OK I am rambling.... LOL
  15. Wow you really do look great!
  16. Hello Fellow 4/27 bandster... Weigh yourself today- if you are like me it will be much better than what you saw when you got home!!
  17. I'm two days post op now and feel fairly independent. The only thing I have not done is drive... so if you have all you need at home then you should be ok after the first 1-2 days.
  18. The protein bullets are awesome- I found some at GNC that are 45g of protein in 3.0 oz... I'll have to check out the ones at Walmart and see if there is a price difference.
  19. I was most grateful for having slip on sneakers to wear after because bending made me ill... and when I got home a sugar free ice pop cause my throat hurt from the anesthesia tube... The ice pop was like heaven
  20. I second EAS ... the premade ones are great when you are on the run. FYI Target has them the cheapest by far then anywhere else I have found.
  21. Thanks for posting this!! I was banded yesterday and it is discouraging reading everybody's posts about how they are not losing...
  22. Had surgery yesterday and haven't yet had the terrible gas pain everyone is talking about. Some soreness and such in the abdomen but nothing crazy... anyone else have a delay in feeling the gas?
  23. Back from the hospital... Surgery & hernia repair went well so far as I can tell. Not a lot of pain yet- worse is when I tried to bend over... still a little groggy. When do the "horrible" gas pains set it?
  24. Melissa- I can empathize with what you are going through... My surgery was also delayed due to cardiac issues. I had an abnormal stress test so I had to get a nuclear stress test (which thankfully was fine)... the delay was about two weeks. In hindsight (my surgery is tomorrow) I kind of appreciate the two weeks extra I had to prepare. As far as having a surgery date- when the surgeon submits the paperwork he/she sometimes puts a date on there but it really is a "dummy" date- just to get things along. I think that's weird they set a real date before approval. Are you doing a preop diet? Which surgeon are you using? (Im in Jersey too)
  25. Good Luck to all of my fellow late April bandsters!! I am terrified but reading posts on here all day is making me feel better. On a different note anyone here from Rubie (the one with the bloodclot?)
