Not sure I can go back to work in 1 week!
Hi, Take time to heal. My Dr. said I could go back in 3 days. I had to take 2 weeks. I have been banded for 3 now. I only have one spot under my bra that rubs and it is still causing me pain its ugly. I have had to go bra-less for a couple of days for this spot to heal. Only you will know how you feel. I say do not rush it if you do not have too. Best Wishes and feel better soon. imaluckydog

why do I sabotage myself???????????????
Hi, I do not want to sound rude. It has been hard for many to loose the weight and in my Group Psychic Class 3 people had their surgery date taken away because they did not loose the weight or meet the requirements for LB surgery. If you want to see upset.... OMG tears and sobs, it was terrible for these grown men and women to face. Even more sad for me and others to watch and hear about it. If they feel you are not ready or at least have tried to loose at my hospital they give the date to someone else who is ready. FYI How bad do you really want this and are YOU willing to create your own destiny starting today? I wish you all the best and I hope you find the wagon and jump on. imaluckydog

meal plans
Hi I have only been banded for three weeks now and I try very hard to get in at least 3 to 4 ounces of protein at every meal. I do leave food on my plate and that is hard because I have always been a member of the CLEAN PLATE CLUB. I eat slowly and chew to beat the band I consume all protein first at every meal. NO LIQUIDS EVER AT A MEAL. That was hard at first. Got much easier. Breakfast Scrambled eggs, Greek yogurt, protein smoothie, cottage cheese, then I add 1/4 cup dry cereal if it will fit quarter of a bagel with cream cheese. I like Smart Start or Special K and then a small piece of Fruit. Lunch Protein FIRST always. I have tuna fish, egg salad, quiche, protein smoothie, any sea food, ground turkey. Veggie and fruit. Dinner did I mention 3 to 4 ounces of PROTEIN Broiled, baked or grilled Fish, Chicken, ground Turkey, pulled pork if it is soft enough, burgers Veg and fruit. I switch it up and have never been hungry or bored. I had a problem (not a big one) but grilled red meat and pork did not go down well. I eat NO white soft bread. I have had rice and corn chips with salsa everything in moderation. I will see my Dr. on Wed. I will find out how well I am doing. Nothing fits and I have had many complements. I hope this info helps. Just remember everyone is different what works for me may NOT work for you. GYM 4 to 5 times a week and I walk everyday. Kathy imaluckydog

I am scared
Best wishes and GOOD LUCK. I was scared as well. I think everyone is, then when you have it your are sore for a while and in a few days, it was about 1 week for me you feel better. I was a baby and had a hernia that needed repair so I took extra time to recover. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. You will find someone in your area and everyone on this site will be your friend and buddy. I was banded just 3 weeks ago and I feel great. I think it is up to us to create our own destiny. imaluckydog

?? for those who had fill during surgery
Hi K, I have a 10 cc Allergan band as well with a 2 cc primer fill as the Dr. referred to it. I have my first fill on July 29. That will be only 4 weeks 3 days Post Op. So I am not sure why they scheduled me a fill so soon? I may not get a fill then who knows. I can eat almost anything if I go slow enough and chew really well. I have had some trouble with Grilled red meats and pork. I have not eaten bread never liked it anyway. I eat a lot of eggs and soft foods trying always to get the protein in first. Lets keep in touch. Kathy imaluckydog

Nine Weeks Progress!
Hi, I am 3 weeks post op and I seem to be able to eat that much as well? I can eat almost anything if I take it slow and chew like crazy. I did have a hard time with grilled red meats and pork. I never liked eggs and I just love them now scrambled or in egg salad. I am going for a fill on the 29 of this month. I have not stepped on a scale. I have no idea how much I have lost if any since my first post op Dr. visit. I thought I would eat a lot less than I do. I do get fuller much faster thats why I go slow. I only have 2cc in a 10cc band. It sound like you are making GREAT PROGRESS. Thanks for posting. imaluckydog

One Week Bandiversary
Hi, Things do get better as time goes by. I am only 3 weeks post op and I still have some trouble bending over to pick something off the floor. Go slow is RIGHT. That is when I feel a pull or a tug around the sores in my side. I do feel 200% better today than I did before surgery. I have gone on a vacation and when I was there I also noticed larger people and thought to myself if I were them I think I know the pain they feel. I too have had that much pain. I am so glad I made this decision to have the LB done. I still need to eat very slowly and chew every bite a million times before swallowing. I must say I have really enjoyed my food so much more and I taste every bite and enjoy it!! I am not sure but I think you are feeling better at 6 days out than I did. Keep up the GREAT FEELINGS and follow Dr's orders. You may have swelling from the un-fill I have not had one but It seems to me you may have more swelling because of that. Thinking of you and Glad we can create our own DESTINY together. imaluckydog

Not just a pretty face...
The banding or Lap Band is a PROCESS let me tell you!!! I read every thing as well even the bad experiences. I have now been banded three full weeks. I was so scared at the beginning of the process. The process does give you time to think, time to decide if you want to tell people and time to TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE. Now that is what happened to me. I had a doctor suggest to me and I said no way was I going to have surgery. Now two years later it was my taking control of my life. Because I wanted to have a life. I too had problems with seats and desks and planes and buses and feeling less than in every way. It had to stop! I was banded on June 29 which ended up being early than my regular date of this July 20. I am now three weeks post op and I have never felt MORE in control of my life than ever before. I make better food choices. I have a little reminder that if I eat too much or eat the wrong thing I will not feel good. I want to feel good so I do make good choices. I have tried different foods some agree and some do not, that is the way it is. I do not eat what I am not suppose to. I follow my Dr.'s orders I am very glad I made the choice to have this done. I should have done it two years ago. Best wishes to you and the choice you make. imaluckydog

We learn as we go
WOW I have not yet had Chinese Oh how I wish to have some now. I am banded just 3 full weeks. I do know that they are heavy handed with MSG and that may not be so good for us banded folks. I have had rice with no problem, but not more than 1/4 cup of it. If food is coated in a fried batter and then a sweet sauce that could be what might be getting stuck. I was away on vacation last week and I found the grilled red meats and chops did not go down at all. I was very uncomfortable I must say. Sea food I can manage and do not have as much of a problem. I'd say try again in a few weeks and go very slow and chew chew chew someone said to me "Make your mouth the magic bullet". Best wishes imaluckydog

Back on Track
Hi, Follow the Dr. and or Nurses directions to the letter. You really need to heal. I ran back to my Dr. two days after my surgery because I could not keep water and liquids down. They gave me another protein drink to try, they made me sit in the office and drink VERY SLOWLY (now that is the KEY) one sip at a time small baby sips. It took ma almost 45 minutes to take in 11 ounces of fluid. It did stay down. You did the right thing. I was as swollen it really take a long time for swelling to go down. You will feel so much better. Just remember go really slow smallest little sips until you can handle more. Hang in there you are doing GREAT. I am now just 3 weeks post op and got stuck on some food while on vacation. I just had to wait it out and go slower next bite. I feel your pain it is a feeling we just do not want to have. You will feel so much better by the weeks end. Thinking of you. Kathy imaluckydog

7/17/09 Onederland is a Tease!
Hi BG, I am back from vacation. Went on a Six day, five night magical Walt Disney World trip with my daughter. I was ok with food, I found I did much better when I had sea food, the steak and meat got stuck even when I took slow, small bites. I am back home now so I have survived and feel good. I am 3 weeks post LB. I sorta have been running around as well. I was surprised that a park could stay open until 3 am. At 2:30 I had to call it quits. Have a Happy Graduation Party sure does sound like fun. Kathy imaluckydog

Post Surgery a few days
GNC has protein drinks plenty of them and if you do not like how they taste they have a 100% money back so keep your slip. I found some i can handle. I only had to do liquid after surgery for two weeks. Make sure you walk and get up and about that will help with shoulder gas and pains.

Banded 7/10/09! having trouble with liquids
I had a hard time getting that much in. Drink slow listen to your body do not force more in or it will come up. It did for me. Sip SLOWLY. Drink protein slow. I ran back to Dr. after two days and they wanted to take the primer fill out I said no. They offered me another type of protein and said if I can keep it down they will not take any out. I have 10cc band with a prime of 2cc Everyone is different. If you are not able to keep any liquids down at all GO or CALL DR. that is very important. I went and that is what happened to me. Just wanted to share. I am 2 weeks post op. imaluckydog

Anyone have it done at Lahey Burlington Ma?
Thank you Lahey I am very happy. "Do not question yourself!!!" I said this morning as I was telling someone my story about "My first surgery date that was to be July 20 and how very excited I was. Then it was moved up to June 29 my surgery date, because I had met all the requirements!!! OMG Holy COW have a cow!!!!" I was shocked, I did not think I was ready, I was worried about the insurance, the surgery, I was worried about the pain, about not eating and only fluids, worried about drugs, you know yata, yata yata, everything you read about was going thru my mind non stop in a loop, Over and over again. Well, let me tell you I hugged my DR. Yesterday! I never thought I would do that!! But I DID.... I just jumped up and said "can I hug you." He gave me a HUGE hug back, I felt so GOOD!! I said to him I have the power to change my life now. This tool is helping me change, and I have found confidence as well. I find support here on this web site, I have not told many of my family, they do not get it. That is OK for me. It is for me to figure this journey out, it is MINE. I am two weeks Post Op and have never felt better in my life. It is eleven days from surgery exactly!! What a load lifted....... I have not really suffered. I was uncomfortable for two days after surgery. Drugs helped. Drinking Water has never been my thing, I drink lots of water now. The liquid post op is hard, I must say, and/but worth it. Eating slow is even harder, putting the fork down and not picking it up is starting to be funny. I just stare at it. The amount of food is so small. I want to be small. The saying is you are what you eat. Thanks to everyone who has shared with me their secrets especially Band Groupie. I want to play in your BAND!! imaluckydog who is helping to create my own destiny. Yipppeeeee I am down 37 pounds in four weeks, wonderland/onederland is just around the corner. Oh happy day
