  4. WOW, You are a very GOOD parent. Parenting is so interesting. Yes, you are good, Nice job. I got a call from my daughter not too late one night. She said " Hi Mom remember when you told me I could call you and ask for a ride and you would NOT ask me any questions?" Did I really say that? I guess I did!!!! Long story short. I did have to ask one question... I had to know where she wanted me to pick her up! Everyone was fine I just am glad we keep the communication lines open. I went to bed and asked no questions. Her friends thought I was so cool. We talked the next day. Thanks for sharing. I had all my pre op blood work done today getting closer. imaluckydog

  14. Well today June 20 marks 28 years of marriage to the most wonderful person I know. My husband, he has been there for me through all my ups and downs and there have been MANY. Over 200 plus pounds lost and gained again, again and again. He loves me and says “I keep exciting him.” How sweet!!! He is a good man no question about that. What would be exciting for me will be to loose the extra pounds once and for all. I know it will be hard and I am ready to work for it. I worked hard for it every other time. I followed Diet Work Shop, WW, Cambridge, Weight Loss clinic, Alli, the SEA Food Diet, You know the one where you SEE FOOD and EAT it. LOL I followed all these to the letter and they did all work for me, maybe they worked for you too? This is what I want... I want to dance. I want to eat normal. I want to think normal. I want to look normal. I want to FEEL normal. I want to see myself as NORMAL. I want to feel sexy again. I want to look sexy again. I want to buy clothes off the rack. I want those clothes to FIT me. I want to be looked at, not look through. I want to be successful. I want off blood pressure medicine. I want off my sleep apnea machine. I want my normal body back, the one I had when I met my husband. I was NORMAL I DO remember how it feels. I HAVE FORGIVEN MYSELF. Do I want MUCH? I think not!! I have made the decision to have Lap Band Surgery. I found a wonderful doctor and he has done other surgery for me. I trust him and he is the best surgeon at this hospital. I am ready. It was suggested to me over a year ago and I still was not ready for it. I am now. The count down begins, My Birthday is July 18 and I will be 53. My New BIRTHDAY band date is July 20, 2009. If all goes as planned. I have chosen not to tell everyone, only my husband, son almost 21, daughter 19 and sister who had GBPS 7 years ago that changed her life, that I am having surgery. I have 100 percent support on this. I do not want to answer all the questions. I have thought long and hard on this. There is a RIGHT time for everything. I have enjoyed reading and learning from everyone on this site. This site is amazing! I find myself not eating because I am at my new computer. That is a plus. Best wishes to all the BANDSTERS out there. Thanks for all the support. imaluckydog Kathy

  19. Hi everyone, Thank you for starting this thread!!! It will help keep my paws out of the cookie jar. By the way, I tossed the cookies and the jar in the trash last week. I would mindlessly eat them and never thought much about it. Until they were all gone and then I would to buy more to replace NOT any more. Not even having them in my house. LOL I was called a “babe” when I was in high school. I WANT THAT BACK!!! I want to wear Lilly again. I am a size 24 stretch. My BMI 40.3 and I am 5 1”. I am almost 53 my birthday is July 18th and my new Band Birthday will be July 20th. My sister had the GBP in July about 7 years ago and it changed her life. She is a big supporter. I cringe at the thought of telling people especially, my mother, because my mother never accepted my sister’s surgery and worried all the time and still does. She would say, “Why does she have to do such drastic measurers just too loose weight, why can she not be like normal people?” I have told only my husband of twenty eight years on June 20th and my two grown college age young adults’ ages 19 and 20 that are very supportive. No one thinks I should tell my mother. I have told her I am having pelvic support issues which I do have. We have said if I get that fixed I could loose weight. Ok a little lie that will not be such a bad thing for anyone. I work with FOOD and cannot change my profession at this time. This year I had my regular Dr. Happy Visit ha ha. My Dr. was NOT Happy with me! My blood pressure was through the roof for the third year in a row! My weight had been down from year before. But I knew it was only time before it was back up again. I know the ups and downs as I go on the Ferris wheel effect. My highest was about 258 and I am hovering at 241 with a 17 pound loss that has been a struggle to keep off. Blood pressure meds not a good thing. I have been on them since that NOT so happy visit. When the Dr. suggested surgery and I said NO WAY are there any pills I can take? That would be easier RIGHT Huh…. Alli and away we go, Ya it worked and then I ate ice cream. The GOOD stuff!! Not going there again. I have kept off 17lbs. I am great at WW, tried Cambridge, no fats, and the SEA FOOD DIET. See food and eat it you know the one. Six years ago I started to use the sleep apnea machine I would love to get off that. Started the LB process in April, have great insurance, a date and a WAIT. Thanks for being here for me. imaluckydog
  20. Hello Everyone on this “Bandlandia Journey” Might I just say Love.Life.Lilly and the Pursuit of Happiness! Would be nice... The Journey is now about me. I sat through the third of four Group Psychology sessions today at my hospital The Lahey Clinic in Burlington Massachusetts. The first class was on Mindful vs. Mindless eating, the second was on Mindfulness and Triggers for Eating: Reacting vs. Responding; and today the third class was on Physiological vs. Psychological Hunger. The one and a half hour classes go by real fast. This week there were fewer people than last week. Some of us have surgery dates, others do not, some are just trying to figure this all out and are not even sure they want surgery. Some have to loose 30 to 40 pounds and others do not. One man got his date canceled because he failed to loose the weight he had to. That would bum me out. For me my date is July 20,2009 and counting. It is Just a little over one month away. I spoke with my sister and she is very supportive she had GBP surgery 7 years ago and it changed her life. I am so ready for change. I am taking small sips, small bites and mindful eating has begun. I have started to PRACTICE the steps that have been suggested to me, smaller portions and but I have not cut back on the caffeine yet and I still drink with a straw. I will need to work on both of these and more. Thanks for all the help and encouragement along the way. I am for sure one extremely lucky dog!!!!!

Keep up the great attitude I love it....... For the picture I copied one from my computer of my dog. Then I pasted it in to my avitar on your spot or blog space. I am so glad for this site it has so helped me keep my paws out of the cookie jar. Thanks again imaluckydog
  23. Today marked the third of four Psychiatric Group meetings at Lahey. The group was a lot smaller today than the past weeks. Topics First week Mindfulness vs. Mindless Eating; Second week Triggers for eating: Reacting vs. Responding; Third week today Physiological vs. Psychological Hunger. DR. gave a nice chart from Totally starved to Painfully Over stuffed. All went well and worth the time I put in. I am hoping the fourth and final group is as exciting. Lots of group questions and discussions people had great information to share. Dr. Kantor is a pleasure and is insightful. The hour and a half just seems to fly bye.... Next week the Dr. will speak about follow ups and after surgery information. I have a surgery date but many in the class do not yet. Everyone seems to be at a different stage of the process. Some are still not sure which surgery LB or GBP they will or will not have. Some are still exploring. I am glad Lahey has this format it a way to digest it all. Wish everyone well. In search of Love.Life.Lilly and the Pursuit of Happiness. for now imaluckydog
  24. Hi everyone I am still at a loss of 17 lbs. before surgery. I would like to do better before band date of July 20. I am trying it is so slow going. I am keeping my spirits up and may try to find a ticker that I like if I can figure out how to insert one. Have a great day everyone. Best wishes to all my Birthday Buddies. Keep happy. imaluckydog
  25. Take life into your own hands! Why NOT it is yours.....That is what I like to hear. You go girl. This is your life you need to call your own shots. I like how you take charge. I keep my paw out of the cookie jar because of you. You are inspirational. Love your Blog, Love YOU ;o) imaluckydog
