Hi Arb, Just keep trying something will work!! You will feel better, just tell yourself you are going to feel better NOW!!! Ok, well it may take a few days, it did for me. I just wake up and say I am feeling better today. I kinda act as if I do and then a sorta do. Find something you are happy about with yourself, hey like you blog really well. I never thought of myself as a blogger but it helps in these times. I find myself alone a lot these days it is very hard to keep my paws out of the cookie jar. I have never been to sparkpeople.com I will have to see what is up there. It also helps me to read other peoples blogs. I have learned so much for others and have made some helpful friends. Have a GREAT day. imaluckydog Kathy
  2. Hi thanks for sharing. I could not get on either I just thought it was my computer. Anyway i love what you said "I'm making progress so it's a small price to pay. I just drink water to help combat it." This is wonderful. I am going to try this. Thanks imaluckydog Kathy
  3. That is such good NEWS!!! That happened to me I was moved up!! We had the same original first date how cool. I am now two weeks Post Op. I feel great today. Very exciting, and best wishes this is the best decision I have ever made. Good Luck imaluckydog Kathy
  4. Thanks so much everyone it has helped me so much to be able to share honesty I said "HONESTLY" with all of you. I am now being honest and that is something I never did with myself, I was always making excuses. Huh no more excuses this is my life and I want it back from the sleep apnea machine, the high blood pressure drugs and the bad knee Dr. just to mention a few!! imaluckydog to able to take control.
  5. Hello Lena, I have missed reading posts from you. But you have been busy it is clear. Thanks for the very helpful healthy eating tips. I just dislike the word "diet" it should be classified with all those other four letter words we could never use as children. As an adult with a healthy mind set I still dislike the word and no longer use it. I have copied the seven tips and posted them I love these little reminders. Do you have a slow or long cook pork recipe with a BBQ sauce you could share with me? Maybe something pulled, round? or brisket???? Not sure what cut to use? I do not know what to use all I know is I was asked to bring something and this was on the list. I was psyched because I see most of us can eat soft pork. I wanted to bring something I can eat. I am only two weeks post opt. Thanks Kathy imaluckydog
  6. "Do not question yourself!!!" I said this morning as I was telling someone my story about "My first surgery date that was to be July 20 and how very excited I was. Then it was moved up to June 29 my surgery date, because I had met all the requirements!!! OMG Holy COW have a cow!!!!" I was shocked, I did not think I was ready, I was worried about the insurance, the surgery, I was worried about the pain, about not eating and only fluids, worried about drugs, you know yata, yata yata, everything you read about was going thru my mind non stop in a loop, Over and over again. Well, let me tell you I hugged my DR. Yesterday! I never thought I would do that!! But I DID.... I just jumped up and said "can I hug you." He gave me a HUGE hug back, I felt so GOOD!! I said to him I have the power to change my life now. This tool is helping me change, and I have found confidence as well. I find support here on this web site, I have not told many of my family, they do not get it. That is OK for me. It is for me to figure this journey out, it is MINE. I am two weeks Post Op and have never felt better in my life. It is eleven days from surgery exactly!! What a load lifted....... I have not really suffered. I was uncomfortable for two days after surgery. Drugs helped. Drinking water has never been my thing, I drink lots of water now. The liquid post op is hard, I must say, and/but worth it. Eating slow is even harder, putting the fork down and not picking it up is starting to be funny. I just stare at it. The amount of food is so small. I want to be small. The saying is you are what you eat. Thanks to everyone who has shared with me their secrets especially Band Groupie. I want to play in your BAND!! imaluckydog who is helping to create my own destiny. Yipppeeeee I am down 37 pounds in four weeks, wonderland/onederland is just around the corner. Oh happy day

HI My Little LB Buddy, I was up with you this morning at 5:00 am. I had to drive my son's friend to the Train in Boston. I love getting up early the air is cool and brisk. You have a tremendous amount of stress on your mind. Take it easy. Be kind to yourself answers will come. I had an entire day of soft food yesterday. It tasted so good. I went real slow fork down after every bite. It takes so long to eat anything that way. I am hoping to have as good a day today as I did yesterday. Sun is up and it is going to be a GOOD one. I have you and your MOM in my prayers. Thinking of you. Kathy imaluckydog
  13. WOW, I had an all food day yesterday. I was amazed everything went so well. I am taking it slow. With the head ache are you getting all the water. Yes, that's a dumb question, you probably are. I get head aches when I do not drink enough. I had a 37 pound loss but that is from first weigh in at Pre op to post op first visit. I am Happy. Ok BG what is TMI? Have a nice day. Kathy imaluckydog

I am a Mommy too! I was also freaking out about that part. I was banned two weeks ago on a Monday as well. How I love starting my new life on a Monday!! Your family will survive;-) This is time for them to take care of you. This is time for you to take care of you too!! I needed about two days rest after surgery and then you will be sore but up and around. I made two dinners and had them in fridge. Plus a lot of food to grab and go for the family. I cleaned out the fridge the week before surgery best thing I ever did for myself. I loaded it with protein and food for me as well as food for them. Just a little planning and everyone will be happy. They will be fine. Thanks for sharing you gave me back some memories. Kathy imaluckydog Best wishes
  17. You inspire me!! I visit my Dr. tomorrow first visit after LB. I have no idea what I have lost. I know it is something. I do not own a scale yet and not sure I really want to either. I know I would be on it 10 time a day checking. I'm doing well with the food today. You really do NOT look like the same person!! Not sure could be a picture of your long lost sad sister. LOL What a difference WOW Thanks for making my day again. GREAT START! Kathy imaluckydog

  19. Hi Laura, You do sound well today. This is our life journey now how ever long it takes us to get there??? I agree with you lets all have those MOG's mine is next week LOL. But it is not my fav. Dr. apt I must say. I have to keep after my mother just to go to the dentist. It seems they do not want to be a bother. Go figure these mom's have been taking care of us now it is time for us to take care of them. My daughter said to my mother in the car the other day. We are not going to put you in one of those old age homes!!!! I was so proud of her. Keep up the positive thoughts and you just wait when you least expect a compliment will come your way!!! love Kathy imaluckydog have a nice day.
  20. Hey Band Buddy, It sounds like you have a busy day. God is good and he/she would not give us something we cannot handle. Lots of wonderful support here on this site. I am thinking of you. I am still on liquids, I see my Dr. this Friday. Oh I want something to chew so bad. But I am just not going to think any more about it. I have also been walking at a good clip for 30 min on a tread mill at our fitness place it has helped my head. Look forward to hearing from you. Have a good day. imaluckydog Kathy
  21. OMG Sleep Apnea, blood pressure meds. No wonder they took me early. Glad it is over and I wish you well it will happen sooner than you think. I only have a few more days of liquid to deal with. So far so good! Just trying to keep real busy. I want off S A machine and B P meds for sure. Best wishes. imaluckydog

I only had surgery 11 days ago. I have been on liquids. I feel like you I do not want the negative input at all I am not sure I am strong enough to handle it. I will not tell everyone and even some in my family. My daughter who is supportive said something to me today she said made her feel good. Her boyfriend who does not know said "your mother has lost weight she looks good." My daughter could not wait to share this with me. Yes, it did make me feel good. She told her boyfriend I have been trying. I have this liquid is for the birds but if this is what I have to do then so be it. imaluckdog
  23. This helped me so much today. I have been reading your about awareness. I have been managing so far so good on the two week post op liquid plan. But it is starting to take a toll on me. I just want to chew something. Awwrrrr well you know what I am talking about. thanks for listening.
  24. Sounds like you have a very nice vacation. I am a little worried I may not be able to vacation as well. I have been avoiding food and people for about a week now. I have one more week of liquids. My daughter and I are going away on vacation July 15 for one week. I will be away it is harder when you are not in your own kitchen. I may need some real help as I will only be able to eat soft and mushy things. It will all be restaurant food, I will need to make healthful choices. Glad to hear from you imaluckydog Kathy
  25. I have never been so HAPPY!!!!!! imaluckydog week one is over. I have survived Lap Band to talk about it. I do not think of myself as a blogger I hope this is not boring. June 29 Th., 2009 one week ago today I was banded at Lahey Clinic in Burlington Ma. my Dr. was Dimitry Nepomnayshy MD. My surgery took 3 hours because I also had a hiatial hernia he needed to repair while he was in there. Lucky me!!! Dr. Nepomnayshy is a confidante, kind and gentle man with a huge heart of GOLD. The Clinic is a teaching hospital utilizing Tufts University medical students and other area medical students 24-7. It seems like a party every time I am there. I am always asking what I think are the dumbest questions, only to get a very educated answer with a smile back. I am so blessed to have had such a happy and healthful experience. My two week post op meal plan consists of liquid protein drinks 3 to 4 a day with plenty of water or other clear liquid to equal 64 ounces. I do not have a desire to eat any food. I do enjoy watching the Food Network http://www.foodnetwork.com/ I seem to be addicted to it now. My mouth starts watering but I do not get hungry. I am starting to think about my next phase the mushy stage. I am entertaining recipes from other LB patient bloggers and I have started a file for all of them. The food network has a lot of recipes I can use it seems to be a wonderful resource. I found a web site that list all High Protein Foods that is easy to use http://www.highproteinfoods.net/ Maybe you might find it interesting as well. I have made home made broth and have enjoyed them. I have been walking everyday for brief distances. Yesterday I went to the Gym with my daughter and walked on the treadmill at a really good clip for 30 minutes. I have had no gas pains at all. I will see the Dr. on Friday July 10 for my first Happy visit. I just want to say thank you to all my blogger buddies your notes, well wishes, recipes and thoughts have all been appreciated so much. I have enjoyed the love and respect I have received on this web site. I have never been so HAPPY........... Love. Life.Lilly. and the Pursuit of Happiness for I’m a luckydog
