One Week Bandiversary

Well, I have survived the first week postop. Gas pain, too tight band and liquid diet. All of it. I am pretty excited that I am under 1 week now of liquids only. I go back to work onthe 29th and am starting mushies then, I don't care if the darn book says the 30th!

Today is better. I was able to swallow my pill without it sitting in my throat for an hour and liquids are going through my band with very little pain. These are all good things. I still seem to have alot of bloating since my pants are tighter around the waist then they were preop and I've lost 10 lbs since then! I know this too will pass.

Patience, Patience.

I was in town at a convenience store for about 5 minutes and saw 3 women get out of separate cars and all were clearly obese or morbidly obese. I felt sad for them and I didn't even know them. I know they have felt the same pain I have. It also strengthened my resolve that I have done the right thing and will see the rewards soon enough. Slow and steady! I picked the turtle to be my ticker marker so it will remind me every time I look at it that this is a long war with many battles and I have to just keep trudging on.

Still having some port site pain, mostly from the unfill I had on Monday. That was pretty uncomfortable and I have some new bruising there. Incisions all seem to be healing well.

I'm feeling pretty good except for bending over is still a little painful. Mostly I'm bored. So much I want to do and I have so much energy. Now I can't really use it. I am signing up at the gym tomorrow and will start working out when I go back to work next week. I know I won't be able to do much at first but again, baby steps.

Overall, I'm feeling better and am hoping the worst of it is behind me and the next 6 days of liquids goes VERY FAST!!

Congrats to bashful1269 who was banded today. Welcome aboard!!:cursing:

PHEW!!!!! What a week for you! I'm so relieved you are feeling better! I was also ticked off that I was losing weight but my pants were tight! My hubby said the swelling is the issue. It finally is going down!

We are in this together! Don't give up!

Hi, Things do get better as time goes by. I am only 3 weeks post op and I still have some trouble bending over to pick something off the floor. Go slow is RIGHT. That is when I feel a pull or a tug around the sores in my side. I do feel 200% better today than I did before surgery. I have gone on a vacation and when I was there I also noticed larger people and thought to myself if I were them I think I know the pain they feel. I too have had that much pain. I am so glad I made this decision to have the LB done. I still need to eat very slowly and chew every bite a million times before swallowing. I must say I have really enjoyed my food so much more and I taste every bite and enjoy it!!

I am not sure but I think you are feeling better at 6 days out than I did. Keep up the GREAT FEELINGS and follow Dr's orders. You may have swelling from the un-fill I have not had one but It seems to me you may have more swelling because of that. Thinking of you and Glad we can create our own DESTINY together. imaluckydog

I've been banded for 1.5 yrs. Lost 85lbs, so far, 50 more to go. My first 3 wks I thought I had made a horrible mistake, found out I was WRONG, best decision I ever made! I does take time to let all swelling go down and everythign goes back to normal. I lost 15 lbs first 30 days of liquid, then started getting fills. First couple of fills didn't really do anything for me, but my Doc kept telling me, slow, steady and healthy! After about 4 fills I hit my sweet spot (everyone's is different) and things really picked up! It's very easy to get frustrated on this journey so try not to let yourself go there. 30 days or so of liquids is easy compared to a lifetime! It will fly by! Kudos for joining the gym! I bought an elliptical right after my surgery, another best decision ever. I could only go 3 minutes with no resistance (wimpy!), but with diligence, i now ride 45 mins with level 4 resistance and burn 500 calories a day! Took me a year to get up to that. I will say, excercise is key with this surgery. It will help things move along quicker and makes you feel better. Also, lifting light weights for toning and muscle bulding, afterall, muscle burns more calories than fat! I started with 3lb weights and 20reps and squats (still can only do about 10 squats at a time) also sit-ups, stomach curls, whatever your able to do. Start slow and build up and change it up! Sometimes I go as hard as I can for 1 min and then steady 1 min and alternate the whole workout. Sometimes I do a steady 1hour, it tricks your body changing it up and keeps plateus from happening. Lots of people have this surgery and expect miracles wihtout any work. As my Doc said, "This is a tool to help with your liefstyle change" So true, if you don't change your lifestyle, the band will not be of much help. Good luck!
