Stricture- How do you deal with the awful feeling you're going to throw up?
I'm having my second one today. I only got a few days out of the first one before it closed up again. I'm getting discouraged since I've been on liquids since my bypass 6 weeks ago. I feel like I'll never get to regular foods!!

anastomosis erosion
Yup! Getting ready for my second endoscopy with dilation tomorrow. Stricture started closing up 3 days after first dilation. I'm sure there will be more in my future, too. Never got out if the liquid stage and I'm 6 weeks out.

Food one month out
At one month I should have been transitioning from purees to soft foods, but alas, I have a severe stricture and am still on liquids at 6 weeks!

Pills
My surgeon said anything larger than the tip of a pencil eraser had to be crushed, or broken in half.

Pre Surgery Vitamins/ Pre Workout Energy
They're kinda pricey, but I used the Bariatric Advantage multi vitamins for pre surgery. I think they were $18 a month or something like that.

Surgery release question
You're not supposed to drive within 24 hours of having anesthesia. Do you know how long you'll be in the hospital? I was there 3 days and 2 nights. You should definitely check with your surgeon's office. Good luck to you!

I’m so confused
Yes, I waffled before my RNY gastric bypass 6 weeks ago. I had a 6 month period of nutrition visits, so I had time to think and learn all I could. When it came to surgery day I was ready, confident in my surgeon, and happy to be improving my health. I have eliminated my type 2 diabetes, and knee pain is better. It is scary, but for me, staying obese with diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure was even scarier!! Read all you can, and good luck with your decision!

Bipolar help! People gone through surgery?
I ended up switching my Effexor extended release capsules for the tablets. And I take them 3 times a day. Kinda a pain, but it works. Can't take extended release after surgery.

Stricture
Sorry to hear, but glad you got it taken care of. My stricture closed up again after just a few days and I have a repeat endoscopy Friday. I think mine will take quite a few tries. They do mine under general anesthesia. I've been on liquids for 6 weeks...

Is this a horrible idea?
Hi, Palta. Use the time during your 6 months to research your options and get familiar with gastric bypass. That's what I did. I had a whole range of emotions during my 6 months. I started out really wanting bypass, then waffling and thinking I'd drop out. Then back to being sure I wanted to do it. I am 6 weeks post surgery and glad I did it, even though I have had a setback. It is not a horrible idea! There are pros and cons to this surgery, and you need to be prepared for a lifetime of taking a multivitamin, B12, calcium, as well as supplementing with protein shakes for a little while until you're on solid food. I love my surgeon and his whole team. They are at a bariatric center of excellence and I had a lot of confidence in him. Take your time. Learn as much as you can, and weigh your options. The answer will come to you. Wishing you .the best

REFLUX MEDICINE DANGERS
Yes. Although safe for appropriate patients, it should be used for as short as possible, and a low dose. Especially bad for the elderly and immunocompromised patients. I've been on one for as long as you have with no side effects. But, that's not to say I should be. I currently have an ulcer and stricture and am 5 weeks post RNY, so I can't stop now!!!

Help! chest pain after eating (4 ypo)
A stricture is a narrowing of the opening between the bottom of your pouch and your small intestine. Mine was as small as a pin hole and liquids/purees were not getting through. It causes all kinds of symptoms and needs to be gradually stretched.

High Vitamin Levels
Im not the OP, just wondering about well water. I live in CT and have a softener and iron filter. Maybe that makes a difference.

High Vitamin Levels
How does well water mess up bloodwork? I have well water, and am curious. I don't get my first labs for another couple of months.

Hormone increase and too much energy? Anybody? (Women)
To me this sounds exactly like Bipolar Disorder (coming from someone who has it). Maybe this is a mental health issue?? Nothing to be ashamed of, just requires professional help. Good luck to both of you!

Bipolar help! People gone through surgery?
I have bipolar disorder 1 and recently had RNY. My bipolar was discussed with surgeon and psychiatrist. Psych did not want me to have surgery, but my team's psychiatrist cleared me for surgery. Surgeon was concerned about malabsorption of meds post surgery, but I'm fine. Any questions I can answer for you??

Help! chest pain after eating (4 ypo)
Well, I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, and I'm only 6 weeks post op, but I do have a serious stricture and also have pain in the center of my chest, alond with nause and difficulty swallowing. It may be unusual to have a stricture 4 years out, but you never know. Find a bariatric surgeon to check you out. Hope you feel better soon and hope it is not a stricture. Could also be an ulcer. Do you take NSAIDS?

Calorie count & Protein intake
No, but I Do take Miralax daily for constipation relief.

Calorie count & Protein intake
My group says 60 to 80 gms of protein a day. They have not given me a guideline for calories though. Im only 5.5 weeks post RNY and getting about 450 calories a day.

how has surgery impacted your hunger?
I'm only 5.5 weeks post RNY, but I've had no hunger as of yet. I hear it comes back at some point. I'm enjoying it while I can!
