  1. Well, I have a marginal ulcer as well as severe stenosis of the stoma. Not sure exactly how rare they are, but I don't smoke, drink or take NSAIDS, and my surgeon is top notch. Just one of those things!
  2. Yes, I did have an experience like yours, long before I had surgery. I was spotting, and a biopsy and ultrasound. I had endometrial hyperplasia. They ended up scraping out thickened lining, and I have been fine since. Im 57 and went through menopause at 47. No sign of cancer. Hopefully all will go well for you. I know it is hard not to worry.
  3. Congratulations on starting your journey! Your surgical group or nutritionist will provide you with a diet plan of what to eat once you're finally on solid foods. There are a couple of great threads on here which have pictures of foods people are eating. One is called before and after. No one can predict how much weight you will lose as many factors come into play including genetics. Just focus on following your surgeon's plan for you, and getting healthy.
  4. What surgery did you have? Sleeve?

I use Bariatric Advantage advanced chewable multivitamins. They are not super delicious. But passable, and are made for bypass patients. I also use their chewie caramel flavored calcium citrate which are delicious!!
  6. I did. I ended up using Miralax in my shake once a day, and stool softeners twice a day until I had a BM. Now I use Miralax once a day.
  7. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks until my follow up appointment. Then full liquids. Then I developed a stricture and I'm 5 weeks out and still on full liquids!! Oh, well. This, too, shall pass!
  8. My first 24 hours in the hospital post surgery was m3ot allowed anything to drink; not even water. The second day in The hospital they brought me broth, sugar free jello, and sugar free lemonade. I'm not sure what artificial sweetener was in them, but they really only care that you drink. You could just drink broth and water and be fine. Good luck with your surgery and recovery!
  9. Glad you're a bit better! Hopefully things will keep on improving for you.
  10. So glad you're feeling better!
  11. In my defense, I was not referring to complications, as I have a serious one myself. I was referring to the chances of death, which I consider "dangerous,". I am one of the 20 percent with complications, and have a very severe stricture. I still think the procedure is safe.
  12. Not dangerous at all. They've been doing these surgeries for a long time. I chose bypass because I had reflux/GERD and sometimes the sleeve makes that much worse. I'm 5 weeks out from bypass and despite a setback, am glad I did it. No regrets.
  13. I should add that I feel better after my first dilation
  14. Depending on how severe, it can take 1, 2, 3 times or more to try to get the anastomosis to the correct size. Frustr8 and Steven1954 had like 6 dilations. Actually, because of the way sleeves are done compared to RNY gastric bypass, I wasn't aware that sleevers hot strictures! Shows you what I know!! [emoji39] mine is probably going to take at least 3 dilations
  15. Ps. There are a few other bypassers with strictures too. Frustr8 and Steven1954.
  16. Yes, I have a very severe stricture. I just had an endoscopy on Tuesday to try to start the stretching process. The opening is so narrow it was the size of a pin hole! Hope you don't have one!!
  17. I love my protein shakes! I use Quest powder and mix with almond milk
  18. I'm sure you don't look like road kill!! LOL! Thanks for your report. I hope you will not need surgery after your next endoscopy in June/July. So you can progress to soft food now? My next endoscopy is May 17th. 2 weeks from tomorrow. I have to stay on full liquids until after that.
  19. That's good! Do you eat meat and veggies, or mainly the fruit ones?
  20. You'll have to get your protein from shakes and supplement with baby food. I don't think we give up protein shakes at the puree stage.
  21. I imagine it tastes pretty nasty. There are plenty of things for adults you can eat on the puree stage, such as refried beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, cream of rice or wheat, etc. I wouldn't waste my money on baby food, but that's just me!! I love ricotta with marinara sauce.
  22. They may, but it's not a big deal. The incisions are really small. Your muscles don't feel sore afterwards. Im 5 weeks out from my RNY gastric bypass and muscles are fine.
