Bypass or Sleeve?
You could search sleeve vs bypass. There are lots of posts on this topic. , and you'll get lots of good advice. I picked bypass because I have GERD and also wanted the possible dumping to keep me in line. Best wishes to you.

Conversion to Gastric Bypass Outpatient?
Don't be offended, but I'm shocked that any doctor would do RNY outpatient! I had RNY 8 weeks ago, and was in the hospital 3 days and 2 nights. The first 24 hours I wasnt allowed anything by mouth, and was on round the clock antinausea meds and an IV. I cannot imagine how I would have done if I had to go home the afternoon of my procedure. But. That being said, all surgeons are different, and maybe yours has a lot of experience with outpatient surgery. Best to you.

Not hungry
Me, too, but I have a protein shake at regular mealtimes even though I don't feel hunger. Got to hit my protein goals.

protein shakes make me puke
I like Unjury or Syntrax Nectar powders mixed with unsweetened almond milk. I tried powder mixed with water and it was vile!!

How long did you take off work?
I have a desk job, and took off 4 weeks. I did it because I felt I needed time to adjust to the food stagez, fatigue, decrease in calories. Etc. Im glad I took the time, but probably could have gone back after 3 weeks. Not any earlier. But that's just me!!

Who is short for there height and getting...
I'm 5'3" so pretty short. I started out before surgery at 229 pounds. And a BMI of about 42, I think. I'm only 8 weeks post surgery. My insurance is Anthem BCBS and they covered it 100%. I've lost 28 pounds.

May Not Be Able to Get My Surgery Due to No PCP with Anthem BCBS
I have Anthem BCBS and agree with notmyname. I just had gastric bypass 8 weeks ago, and Anthem approved without any input from my PCP. I filled out lots of paperwork for my surgeon which included my own list of how many times I tried to lose weight on my own, and failed. Presumably my surgeon submitted tht info to Anthem. But again, i did Not need anything from PCP. Good luck, and don't give up! I'm rooting for you!

Frustr8, is your ulceration at the connection between pouch and jejunum? You could have the ulcerated sections removed and the attachment re done. That's what they may have to do for me if I don't heal up and if my stricture doesn't go away. They won't do it for me for another 4 months though. Having my 4th endoscopy with dilation on Friday!

Cigna- Requirements and Timeline
I read through that...it sounds encouraging! No monthly nutritionist visits, which is usually what slows people down. Hoping you get it done in your time frame! Best to you!!

Cigna- Requirements and Timeline
I'd contact Cigna directly and ask about their requirements. It is almost June, and many insurers have a 3-6 month waiting period where you need to be having monthly dietitian and nutrition visits. I imagine You'll need a psych evaluation, cardiac clearance, etc. Getting it done by the end of July will be tough, I think. But good luck. I initially wanted DS, but my surgeon and his group do not perform it.

Surgery is Tomorrow!
Good luck, you got this. It'll be fine. When you wake up you'll be sore, so ask for pain meds. Try not to be anxious [emoji4]

ANYONE CHEAT ON THEIR PRE OP LIQUID DIET?
I didn't cheat, either, but you should be fine unless you totally fell off the wagon and cheated for days. One slip up shouldn't hurt things.

Will I ever be normal again!?
What issues are you having with food? Nausea, vomiting? Its still early in your journey. If it makes you feel any better I'm 7 weeks post RNY gastric bypass and still on protein shakes only!

Oh, while you're in the hospital make sure you walk, walk, walk. It will make you feel better and get the gas out. Also, after the first day, they will make you sip fluids as much as you can.

Hi! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I'm 7 weeks out from my RNY gastric bypass. You don't need too much on the hospital. Chap stick, phone charger, tablet and charger if you have one. A pillow for the ride home. The bumps in the road will hurt.

I AM OVERWEIGHT!
