Low Vitamin A?
Thank you. I hope your testing goes ok and you don't have any deficiencies! You should definitely be taking your vitamins though.

Low Vitamin A?
How much do you take? I already get quite alot in my multivitamin. I read for vitamin A deficiency you need vitamin A in oil and at very high doses for a short amount of time. Then taper it off.

Low Vitamin A?
Yes, you really should get things checked out. I was really surprised at the results.

Low Vitamin A?
I'm still on liquids due to a stricture, so no carrots fir me! Good idea, though!

Possible pregnancy and only(almost)three months out
I'd also suggest taking another test in a few days. It looks negative to me too.

Low Vitamin A?
This kind of goes along with my post about low protein. More lab results came back today, and I am also deficient in vitamin A. I am waiting to hear from the surgeon about this, but imagine I will need a prescription vitamin A supplement. Any one else deficient in vitamin A? I do take a high quality bariatric multivitamin twice a day.

Scar cream/oil?
You have to wait until the incisions are completely healed up. I use Bio Oil. It's supposed to be good for scars and stretch marks.

First pain after eating
Maybe you should start with one ounce and slowly increase, eating very slowly so you don't overdo it. It sounds like you ate too much too fast.

Dysphasia, sliding hiatal hernia with schatzki ring and anastomotic stricture
Sorry for all you're going through. Just wanted to say I am 3 months post gastric bypass and at 3 weeks out we discovered I have an anastomatic stricture and marginal ulcers. I understand how it feels to not be able to tolerate even liquids. I have had 4 endoscopies with dilation, with a 5th one next week. I'm still on liquids but feel better. Take care, and I hope you get better soon.

Dry hair and bad acne
Do you happen to take high doses of biotin? That can cause cystic acne. I couldn't take biotin for that reason. For dry hair, don't shampoo every day, don't use super hot water or hot styling tools. Air dry hair, and use a leave-in conditioner in addition to a regular conditioner. Good luck, and congratulations on your weight loss!!

Low levels of protein and globulin in blood
Thank you! I am waiting to hear from doctor's office as to what they want me to do. But was thinking of upping my intake to at least 100 gm as well.

Anyone else NOT eating like they should Post-op?
You can do it if you have the right mindset. I'm still on liquids 3 months post OP due to complications. It is boring, but doable. Good luck!

When to take vitamins?
Yes! Along with Zofran!! But that's just me!!

Low levels of protein and globulin in blood
Just had my first set of lab work done post RNY and for the most part it was good. However, my protein and globulin were too low despite ingesting 85-100 gms per day. Anyone else have this? I'm 3 months post surgery.

Drinking before and after eating
Drinking while eating is a big no-no. For several reasons. It can flush the food out of your pouch too quickly causing you to eat too much. And for RNY patients it can even lead to dumping syndrome. Do some research on the Internet and you'll find lots of support for waiting to drink after eating.

Lies to tell people about what surgery I am having
I didn't tell anyone what surgery I was having except for our department head. I just said "surgery" and left it at that. No one asked.

Drinking before and after eating
I wait at least 1/2 after eating to drink. I use the Baritastic app and it has a timer that notifies you when you can drink.

When to take vitamins?
You shouldn't take calcium within 2 hours of taking iron, or iron containing multivitamins. It affects the absorption. I take a multi in the early morning. Then calcium at about 8 am, 11 m, 3pm, and another multivitamin at 7 pm. Hope this helps.

Swallowing liquids
I do believe the pain will go away as long as you remember to sip. Gulping may always hurt.

Swallowing liquids
Are you sipping or gulping? Try little frequent sips. Things get better.

Feel like I'm taking 10 steps back
Thanks. My surgeon said my stricture wad the worst he'd seen in 20 years of practice!
-
Bypassed yesterday!
Take the pain meds they offer you in the hospital. It gets better quickly, don't worry. Congratulations on your surgery and hang in there!

Tespo Vitamins
Glad you like the bariatric Tesoo vitamins. I actually threw my machine away (after trying to sell it) because I couldn't stand the taste! It's a clever little machine though!

Feel like I'm taking 10 steps back
I agree with catwoman7. I have had a stricture for months. I had the same symptoms. I've been dilated 4 times with a 5th one coming ip at the end of the month. Did you have RNY? It's a long road to recovery. But it is possible. You need to find a bariatric surgeon near you and get this diagnosed. They do an upper GI to diagnose a stricture. Keep us posted. And good luck!

Retraining your brain does anyone understand it
I don't think you should jump from liquids to eggs and chicken quite so soon. You should talk to your surgeon about progressing early.
