  1. Ellf, what does your surgeon say? With an upper GI test they can see a stricture quite clearly. Are you in pain? Do you have pressure in your chest where your pouch is? You shouldn't wait, but consult your surgeon. My dilation was an emergency because I couldn't even handle fluids. The stricture was so severe it was as narrow as a pin hole!!
  2. Thanks, Mrs. Gamgee! I thought so, but then again I thought those could be considered purees! I have to be so careful not to irritate my stricture I'm afraid to eat anything!!
  3. So, I'm 5 weeks out, and due to a stricture I am only consuming water and protein shakes. Surgeon's office just called and said I could progress to full liquids, but I forgot to ask what they meant. Is that the same as purees? I'm all confused!! LOL
  4. My comorbidities were type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea. My BMI was over 40, so I qualified without any comorbidities, but I had them.
  5. Thanks, all, for the suggestions for spirlizers! I've got to get one!
  6. The spasms stopped as soon as I stopped drinking really cold stuff. I drink cool stuff fine now. But have a severe stricture and ulcers, so thats a whole other story!@
  7. Thanks, Cheeseburgh! I appreciate the advice!!
  8. Hi, Tracy725. I just had an endoscopy for my stricture, which is severe, and it was all ulcerated as well. I had RNY gastric bypass a month ago. There are early and late strictures. Early usually happen 3-4 weeks post surgery. My symptoms are tremendous pressure in my pouch, and a feeling like I need to throw up, and a feeling like I ate an entire pizza, along with severe reflux. I couldn't tolerate purees or liquids. The opening from my pouch to my small intestine was only as wide as a pin. No wonder nothing was getting through! I hope you don't have a stricture or an ulcer!!
  9. I use Diclofenac cream on my knees and Tylenol. My surgeon doesn't allow ibuprofen for his RNY patients. Don't know about his sleeve patients, but I seriously doubt he allows it for sleeves either. I know how debilitating knee arthritis is. You've got my sympathy!
  10. Do you buy your zoodles, or spiralize them yourself? If so, what machine or gizmo do you use to make them? A container at Stop & Shop where I live is $5.00.
  11. Try warmer liquids. I couldn't do sugar free popsicles or cold drinks as they caused spasms. Good luck.
  12. Thanks, Steven1954! Was that when they diagnosed your stricture, ir afterwards? They think the inflammation from the stricture was causing the foamies. Hope it doesn't happen every time I have the dilation. Not fun. Hope I don't need a stent either.
  13. Ugh. So sorry LastMinuteLouise left you without a ride to your appointment. At least you can go tomorrow and don't have to wait too long. My surgeon says we'll try a second dilation in 7-10 days. It was a long day!
  14. Well, I had my endoscopy with supposed dilation today, but the opening was as narrow as a pin, and he could only get a wire in there, no balloon. Will have to have several more little dilations. Spent 5 hours on recovery vomiting up foamies so bad. They had to try 3 different anti nausea medications to get me to stop vomiting. The anastomosis was completely ulcerated. Ugh!
  15. I think it is the balloon dilation they have to be careful with. Could damage my healing pouch. We'll see today how it goes!
  16. Oh, my goodness! I can't believe what you've been through!! Hopefully you're all done with surgeries and totally healed.
  17. Thanks, Frustr8! I'll make sure I'm asleep. I had an endoscopy about 30 years ago to diagnose an ulcer, and was awake the whole time. It was Awful!! I was gagging and panicking and all that.
  18. So then it is easier for food to get washed through for bypassers, and hence we can't drink while eating or the food will just flow through with the liquid, enabling us to overeat. Right? That's the point of not drinking while eating.
  19. Why do you think bypass folks can do it with no problem? That just makes no sense![emoji39] we are also instructed never to drink while eating and to wait at least 30 minutes after eating to drink. Also not to drink right before eating...
  20. Thanks, Steven1954. They do completely knock you out for the endoscopy, right? I'm kinda nervous! Did you feel any better after the first one? How many weeks between endoscopies? Thanks!!
  21. Awesome! Congratulations [emoji847]
  22. Some folks would rather have their intestines rerouted rather than have 3/4 of their stomach removed![emoji4] And don't forget the RNY gastric bypass is called the "gold standard " of bariatric surgery. If you have to have the bypass you'll do fine! Hope your reflux gets better soon.
  23. Hi. I'm sorry your employer's policy doesn't cover bariatric surgery. That's a bummer. Unfortunately, even if it is a "medical necessity " if they don't cover it, they don't cover it. I'd suggest talking to HR or whomever decides what your policy covers, and ask them to consider covering it in the future. Good luck to you!
  24. Thanks, Frustr8! I'll try some broth. Good luck with your appointment on Tuesday. Come back here and let me know what they say about your plan of care.
