Oh, that reflux! I'm new to it, and now taking prilosec 40 mg am and pm. If I have something to eat to close to bedtime, I will wake up with burning pain. I keep TUMS on my nightstand for just that reason. And if the prilosec is not going to keep working, I'll ask to switch to something else. I'm 6 wks postop, so I hope time will make it better!! Good luck to you.
  3. Good news! I bet you'll be glad to get home and get this behind you. Hopefully, there will be no need for anything further.
  4. I so wish you weren't going through this - I will have you in my thoughts and prayers. Let's hope it can be fixed with the endoscopic procedure, and you can get back to healing the way you need to. Please keep us posted so we know how you're doing.
  5. Hi Robin - I'm not the person to ask about tickers because I have a heck of a time with them. Every site seems to be different with how they do it. I've actually just started over like it was a new ticker. Maybe post the question somewhere else or do a search of forums on ticker update. Hey, I think I might just do that too!! Sorry I can't be of more help, but CONGRATS on the weight loss!
  6. I have been tired too at 6 wks postop. I really have to push myself to do even simple things. For instance, went grocery shopping today, and it's a good thing my husband was with me. I got so tired I had to sit down while he checked out. I was exhausted and dragged myself to the car. For me, I think I need to start really exercising to build stamina. One thing, does your vitamin contain iron? It should.

Wow you do have a lot going on! You absolutely will be able to work things out for yourself! And this forum will give you so very much support. I don't know what I would have done at times without the wonderful people here. So lean on us whenever you need. My preop was very hard, but I made it; and you will too! Soon you will be on the loser's bench!!
  8. Yes, yes, yes! I just went through this. It was waking me up and killing me!! I had been taking 20 mg of prilosec 2x/day. They had me double the dose to 40 mg 2x/day, and that solved the problem. I didn't have reflux before surgery, so I didn't know what the heck was going on. It was reflux. I was sleeved on 4/23.
  9. I did not have a drainage tube, only a catheter which was removed the day after surgery.

Your new life awaits!! Good luck and congrats on your decision!
  11. Hi kweenbee! Surgery was a breeze. Postop journey has been a roller coaster ride! Full of ups and downs. Feeling good, bad, and in between. Tolerating protein powder and then not, then okay again. It will be 6 wks tomorrow, and right now I'm on the upswing. After dealing with reflux, and finding the right med and dose, I'm able to eat and drink just fine. Have you had surgery yet? I have no regrets, and am truly glad I've done this. Thanks for asking!

Hi Vicki - I will be 6 wks postop tomorrow. I too stalled around wk 3. I lost 1 pound in 3 wks. Very discouraging. Then this week, I got on the scale and lost another pound. The next day, 1 more. Everyone is different. I want to see loss every day! As a matter of fact, It would be nice to weigh in the morning and night and see loss both times lol......Hang in there. I call this a real roller coaster ride!
  13. I'm 6 wks postop tomorrow, and I am the same way. I'm anxious to hear what others will say and what guidelines they use. Thanks for posting this.
  14. I didn't have reflux before sleeve, but do now. I am almost 6 wks postop. I was taking 20 mg of prilosec 2x/day as a precaution. About 2 wks ago, I felt I had a lump in my throat, it hurt to eat or drink. I woke up in the night coughing with bitter taste and pain. I had to sit up. I was sure something serious was wrong. They told me to double the prilosec to 40 mg 2x/day which I did, and within a couple days, I was feeling better. If it comes back, I'll be looking for a second drug or a switch. I don't wish that on anyone!
  15. Thanks so much for posting. I'm definitely going to check these out.
  16. What an inspiration to other young people you are! Congratulations on your success. I hope your head catches up with the wonderful changes your body is going through because you deserve all the compliments and positivity that is coming your way. You are a very beautiful woman right now, and it's only going to get better. Hold on for the ride!!! And I hope those nasty stomach pains don't come back, but if they do, it sounds like your surgeon has a good plan.
  17. I had been the same weight for over 3 wks, then instead of losing, I gained a pound. I am 5 wks postop. Being the same for 3 or 4 days is nothing. Could be retained fluids, body adjustments, time of the month, etc., etc., etc. This will be ongoing so please don't fret. I figure it will come off when it comes off, and I'll just take it as it comes. You might want to put the scale away, and get it out once a week or every 2 wks to stop the madness...lol.
  18. Most recommended is whey protein isolate. It is the highest quality. "Isolate"is important as it is more easily absorbed by our bodies. My doctor also recommended Unjury protein powders which I tolerated very well. It comes in vanilla, 2 different chocolates, strawberry, and the chicken soup. They also have a protein cheddar cheese sauce, but that is seasonal. You also want to look for low sugar. Also, your body can only utilize so much protein at one time. More than 30 gms would be a waste. Good luck. I'm sure others will have input as well.
  19. One thing, I made a "countdown" calendar. I inclulded my weight each day. I put down my emotions and if it was a really hard day or not. I took great joy in X'ing out the days as they went by. Make sure you take your measurements before surgery too. Think about your liver. If it is not shrunk enough with preop diet, they will not do your surgery, but a couple screw ups is not going to ruin it. That's a good incentive for staying on track. No one's perfect. Don't be too hard on yourself. You CAN do this. Hold your head up and put this behind you. Move on and go forward! Soon your sleeve day will be here!!
  20. I am 5 wks postop. Have lost a total of 24 pounds counting 2-wk liquid preop diet. In 3 wks, I had lost 1 pound. I've been eating about 500-600 cal a day, and today I gained a pound! Just walking for exercise so far, and getting very frustrated.
  21. aviiva - yes, look by the refrigerated packaged foods. They are in a box.
  22. I agree with Delta. I have some issues, trials, problems, etc., but my goal is the same. To lose weight, be healthier, hopefully improve my life in more ways than one, and feel good about how I look and feel. The sleeve is my answer, and at 4 wks postop, I don't regret it at all. The only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.
  23. stomach - no, never. Side - about 4 days postop.
  24. "pants on the ground, pants on the ground, lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground!" Love it! LOL
  25. I was the same. I'm 4 wks now and once again like really cold drinks, but for the first couple weeks, cold and hot hurt and gave me that bubble feeling. So, room temp was best for water, and drinks and warm broth felt great. Remember, all this is temporary as we go through different stages.
