  1. My husband and son have been my biggest irritant when it comes to food...they go buy cakes cookies brownies and crap and come home and sit and make mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm sounds....feels almost deliberate sometimes... I'm getting good at ignoring bad behavior
  2. I got mine the morning of surgery....the docs were so kind and thoughtful, they made no big deal just told me to leave my unders and bottoms on...they removed them after I was out, so not so humiliating for me...And allowed me a shower as soon as I woke from recovery to take care of things...
  3. Good for you! Keep it up...the more active you are the better you will feel. I drove myself home after surgery 130 miles after traveling on a plane all night, as soon as I pulled into town I went to the office and have been here since.
  4. and usually only 140-200 calories I split the bar up part in the day and then part for my desert...
  5. Bethany...I do believe it is truely a lifestyle change, not a quick fix...and if he is having second thoughts prior to surgery...this is huge, it might be he's not ready just quite yet...but in another post he certainly sounds like he is willing to give it a go to be a healthier man for his family...children deserve to have their parents around a long time, and so do grand children deserve to have their Nanna's and Pappa's around.... WLS= Life style change and it is important that everyone in the family is on board to support you... Good Luck esheldon76 with your surgery and your new Journey, Welcome to the Loser's Bench
  6. Fear is what keeps me on board...I've yet to hurl...but if you cheat or eat to quickly or the put the wrong things past your lips....whatch out, you could get to taste it twice... I have lost 47 lbs and am about 6 wks out!
  7. I shop at Safeway and they have some that are safeway brand and have 20 g protein and taste good.
  8. Please do share your recipe for the Lemon Protein Cake...would love to experiment
  9. By now you are probably 1/2 way thru surgery, coming out soon...My advice as a newbie is to walk walk walk as soon as you are able, keep walking you will heal and feel so much better... Prayers going us to keep his hand on your surgeon!
  10. My daughter had galstones, they were so painful for her and she was pregnant. She at 12 weeks pregnant could not live with the pain any longer and risked the surgery. Everything went well, she is less one galbladder and I was blessed with my 4th grand babie girl at just 5 lbs...4 oz. She is 23 and says it has changed her life for the better having the darn thing removed! No more pain.
  11. Yes he is listening...I have been battleing the husband with/for support but I have found in the Lord a new way to cope.... I am reading "The Power of A Praying Wife"...It is fabulous...book by Stormie Omartian....and the preacher preaches on 1 Cor 7....wow..He not only listens but he speaks and loud sometimes....
  12. If you would have told them the water was for medical purpose they would have tested it and allowed you to board with it. It is something the airlines do not broadcast but if for medical they cannot deny you. I had some great help and advice from the TSA security in Yuma AZ when I was headed home. We were talking about the wheel chair help and visiting with woman about the surgery and she asked me in a certain way..."is that vitawater you have for medical purpose...keying me to answer "yes"...I of course said "OH YES IT IS" then she told me under TSA guidelines they allow passengers to board with liquid over the 3 oz if for medical purpose.
  13. try water arobics if ya can...Low friction on your muscles while it builds those muscles in your body, as your body is boyant in the water. I do 3 X a week and pay $20 a month to use the hotel pool.
  14. Alaskan Cod Fish is about the only fish I have found that is palettable and I bought 25 lbs on Friday and have begun to introduce it to my family...Husband and boy are loving it we eat it once a week now. The daughter she prefers to eat the sides during that evenings dinner, as we do not allow making of 2 dinners to accomodate one person who does not "like" what we are having.
  15. My butt yet to start shrinking either, but my feet have melted down to a normal foot size, my pants went down 2 waist sizes, and my face has melted away so it is a glowing 1 chin face....my heart and liver and kidneys i'm sure are rejoycing due to their loss of fats around them.... Always check out the positives....fat is lost around your heart, liver , and kidneys first because they are the ones who are taxed the most from our weight issues, this allows us to get more energy and be healthier so our bodies can exercise with less trouble. Your/my butts will come soon enough give it time, give it time...we didn't make these butts over night!
  16. I seem to also get...you are just glowing...(the only other time people told me that was when I was pregnant) . One guy said "did you do something to your hair? then after telling him nope hairs the same he puts his hands apart and brings them together a bit and he says "I think your face used to be this big now it looks this big...your face is shrinking....Lol
  17. I would not worry, if you are getting the protein and vitamin intake you need and liquid...you will be fine...If you are concerned though call or email your dr. He will set your mind at ease!
  18. Cathy~ Check your email....would love to text with you...but I sent a little bio for you Grama of 4
  19. I had my surgery done in Mexico....so no insr...came into play for me. I was blessed not to have any complications....So I'm not much help in this department.... But what I can say is you will be added to my personal time with the Lord and I will keep you in my prayers. I pray the Lord will bring his healing hand down on you and heal you from the inside out.... Good Luck, and welcome to the Losers bench...
  20. I too have experienced a bit of coldness.. I go year round coatless...hello, I just started wearing a coat due to feeling chilli...At home my husband is agass as I will go down stairs and start a fire due to it being to cold at home....He laughs cuz it has been 15+ years since I have lifted a single finger to star/make/keep the fire etc...as it is down a flight of 16 stairs and my knees complained each and every time I traveled down them....
  21. I am 5 weeks post op...I have been weighing in daily and this last week, I have been so frustraited...only losing a few ounces a day....I try to wait several days in between so it gives me a bit more loss. I find I lose more when I'm closer to my liquid intake and the correct Protein intake...
  22. Glad to hear everything went so well...Remember walk walk walk, it will make you heal faster not only help with blood clotting.... You are tough you can do it! Welcome to the losers bench!
  23. I am 42 and I am with swimmer...I wish I had done it years ago...I too am a healthy fat girl...however my BMI wa 57.1 when I began and am now 5 weeks later at a BMI of 49.9...yes I know not a big jump, but it is huge for me....I was 354 and am now 309...down 2 pant sizes and can even put my own socks on each day with out over exerting myself with huffing and puffing and cramps in legs and back... My insr. would only pay if there were complications such as diabetes2, and they wanted me to go on a 6 month diet and see a shrink and do a sleep study all out of my own pocket...Well with all of those things I could have paid for the surgery....and I did! I would do it a million times over again...
  24. I was on liquid for 1 week, then cloudy for 2nd week, 3rd week wash smouchie foods...I was hungry and tried an egg...this week, was great. The greilin harmone (which tells our brain we are starving) can stay in our system for about a month...so be patient...it too will pass. I am now 5 weeks post op and eating normal things...I had a turkey burger last night about 4 oz...Protein first you know... I have found new Breakfast smoothies to be wonderful start of the day add a little Protein powder and wala...you are off and running. I eat 1 slice of deli turkey at work with a cheese stick for lunch....and do Water arobics 3 X a week.... Good Luck, and welcome to the losers bench
  25. Love it!....Now tell us all a little more...When you managed to meet your goal did you have the skin removal surgery and if so was there more than one or did you do it all at once? Did you self-pay or did your insr. pay? I look at the old you and see me...and I look at the new you and see me 25 yrs...ago But my arms have wings and my thighs will have hang overs I'm sure...I have a hernia that I am looking fwd to having repaired after a time and I think my health insr. will also pay for the tummy tuck at that point, but then you'll have a thinner structure with wings and hang overs...gotta make some concessions to get those fixed....also how was the pain associated with the plastics? Healing time etc... Thanks for your wisdom and experience
