  1. For those knees and back pains..Water Arobics is the secret!....wow and after a couple of months and 57# down you'll feel more like walking because the knees and back dont mind it much! I have taken perkecet for 4 yrs now for the pain in the back and knees...even had an MRI on the knees and many of cortizone shots....Since surgery I have not even taken one pill, after 57# my knees and back are partting as I lost 1/4 person... My legs and feet no longer fat little stubbs no kankles, in fact my kids say "mom your feet are skinny" Good Luck,
  2. you know what did it for me is take a current photo...and a before photo....side by side. I had a gal in my office who did not know of my surgery....she totally lost the reason she was there and exclaimed..."what are you doing to yourself?, you are getting so skinny" Validation! I started surgery at 354 now am 297, in just 7 weeks...I was 28W and now in a 22/24 so i'm with ya it's great....
  3. Congratulations Miss Diva! How great will it be for your patients to have a once fat now thin...councelor
  4. Oh and by the way CONGRATULATIONS!!!! no worries it will be great, I am 2 months out almost! and I would do it over 10000 X's
  5. I did my blood tests, EKG, and chest xray the Saturday before my surgery... took 20 minutes and done!
  6. Amany194~ I am in a continued prayer state with my Lord, as I spend hours with him each day...I am reading a book called "The Power of a prayerful wife" ....My hubby is in for it....if ya know what I mean, but I spend hours with the Lord and you are definately added to the list of ppl who need some extra TLC from Jesus.... God Bless You! PS not...with all the $$$form cigarette purchases...look how many new clothes you can buy...
  7. My periods were fairly normal, but came about every 6 weeks...since surgery I am right on the 28 day marker....However I tend to not gain during the TOM but I did not lose not even 1 little ounce...I kept to my regular diet and drank more water (which of course makes you pee more)....When my weight is lower, I tend to notice my body does react differently to a number of things that I would otherwise not even notice, or that I havn't noticed in many years. Good Luck
  8. Amany194~ I do not have to tell you Smoking is a very unhealthy habit. You can do it....your family I am sure loves you and wants to have you around for many years to come. I am not a smoker, nor have I ever had that horrendous addiction (thank God), however, I am the daughter of a dead smoker and the wife of a former smoker. Everytime I play with my grandchildren, when I have watched my children walk down the wedding isle, I think of my father and sometimes I am mad at him, because he was so selfish about his smoking and didn't quit, and in the end left me fatherless at the age of 21 (he was 54)....I feel deprived of a father till my golden years and my children and grandchildren are depirved as well. My husband quit smoking cold turkey, and this is so true he hibernated away for many months, I never knew why....one day I was filling out papers (we were fostering a young girl) and needed to know some specifics about cigarettes...I went down to ask the questions and he then told me he had not had a cigarette in 6 months....(7 yrs now without a smoke)...That I am proud of, as we want him around for the many years for my grandbabies and our children. Now ...off my soap box....If you have made the big decision to have WLS....you are a strong brave woman...you can do it... Have you ever tried hypnosis? any bad habit can be curbed in 28 days (so they say). I am putting you in my prayers as I know you can do it .... Good luck at no smoking and with the WLS Gma of 4
  9. If you wish to feel better about your hubby read my blogs,,,...I think he takes the cake in the Jerk dept...probably tthe instructor...but yes I love him!
  10. I am with you on the pain...I could barely walk at 354#, my knees in compaction pain I was eating 3- 4 perkecet a day....Since my WLS I have lost 55# and am weighing in at 299 # and have not taken a pain pill since March 3rd.... I am so glad you made the big decision to have the WLS you will love it, I would do it 10000 X's over again. I had mine done in Mexico and I loved my Dr. Aceves...He was Fabulous!!! Welcome to the losers Bench!
  11. I am so excited....The Wii can no longer tell me to "GET OFF", it used to tell me how mobildy obese I was and until I changed that it would not let me play I was "TOO FAT". Well today I had the most amazing thing happen, I stepped on the scale and low and behold it read under 300#, this is the first time in over 12 yrs...I can say that I have seen the number under my feet. I have so much energy and have rewarded myself with new dining room walls and living room wainscoting....LOL, funny it used to be I would reward myself with a candy bar or a big tub of ice cream.... I am so thankful to Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campoz for giving me the tool to change the rest of my life. My son always asks "mom, can you have ......?" "well I can but I prefer not to." I found during the sermon on Sunday a perfect responce to his question.... I Cor 6:12 "Everything is permissable, but everything is not beneficial". Now that sums up the moto for the rest of my life...
  12. I'm with Escape Pod....Bread is a filler and is definately on my one bite list or avaoid....I too eat alot of shrimp and Alaskan Cod...(yes I'm learning to like it, not a big fish eater) but with a little lemon or fresh squeezed lime it is tastey! I'm almost 8 weeks out and have lost 55 lbs, and 4 pant sizes...And I even fit into the shirts my husband bought me last year for my birthday...lol
  13. Yahoo! Great Day!!! I to have had a great day on the scale, first time in 12 yrs....that the scale reads under 300#
  14. I had surgery on Monday feb 27 and was back to work the following Monday March 5th....I own and oporate an indirect verizon Wireless Office so yes Desk Job but up and down alot, and packing freight and boxes of phones all day 6 days a week. I also started back to my Water arobics just 2 1/2 weeks after surgery...3 X a week....It is the best exercise with the lowest physical harm to the body because you are boyant in the water.... Good Luck, Gma of 4
  15. Girls girls girls~~~ wow I live this everyday!!! my husband is extremely unsupportive, in fact he is sabbatagical (if that's a word) he told my 12 yr. old son there was no way I could lose the weight and further more "mom will ALWAYS be fat" hello!!! I am 8 weeks out on Monday and I have lost 55 pounds and for the first time in 12 yrs....I am under 300 pounds. I come home and there will be twinkies, ding dongs, chocolate pies, cracker jacks and candy bars (my former favorites), will be piled in my fruit bowl.....ugg now It took me 3 yrs to save enough money for the surgery and I'll tell you all...I AM GONNA DO IT FOR ME!!! I want to be here to watch my grandchildren grow up...the 4 of them deserve that...and the many more to come deserve to know and love and be loved by their gma... So good for you for taking the initiative to fund the surgery on your own...you will not regret it, I would do it 10000 X over again. I went to Mexicall and Dr. Aceves did my surgery $8750 and I was treated like royalty....was the best surgery experiment I have ever had and no pain...Zip ZERO none! Good Luck and welcome to the losers bench!
  16. Why are you not taking the $$ you saved and making a trip south....? Save yourself a bundle of money and have excellent care. Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli is a fabulous surgeon and he and his staff have taken exceptional care of me and more so than the US docs would of. Dr. Aceves emails me to find out how I am doing and asks if I have any questions and is genuinely concerned with my health well being. I would say do some research you can get a plane ticket for cheap and have quality royaly care, for much less. I paid $8750 and was all inclusive... Jan
  17. Wow if you are getting your protein in you are doing way better than I am....I am having a bear of a time getting in more than 300-400 calories and 30-40 g protein a day...but my energy is great as well as I have lost 53 lbs in 7 weeks.... Just keep it up, yes breakfast is important meal of the day jump starts your metabolism. Exercise is always important too, but at 2 weeks you must be careful of any healing incisions... Good Luck!
  18. Oh Lizzy...It's not like that at all. I still go out with my family to restaurants and the great thing about the food is you are eating way less amounts and slower so you get to enjoy the food MORE than before....before I would gobble up the food and wish I still had another bite. Now you eat slowly and have a doggy bag to take home for your lunch or dinner, it's awesome! I love the loss of my stomach....I love my Sleeve....I love having the grehling harmoine GONE for good!....and most of all I like the 53 lbs I have lost in the past 7 weeks the best, I'm no longer tired all the time, I enjoy exercising, my feet and back don't ache all the time, and my pants are falling down...(not liking that so much, but do like getting into a smaller pair).... I would have this surgery 1000 X's over again....and many years earlier if I could!!!
  19. Here here girls....I definately am feeling this...I have only lost 53 pounds but the opposite sex comments and flirting almost make you feel a little gitty again...Havn't felt that way in years...I am married and am definately not looking for a man, but it sure feels good to have one who is not your husband....notice that you are a fine looking woman!
  20. I so know the feeling...I was like that and I started reading and increased my caloric intake by 100 calories and boom broke the barrier for me!
  21. Yay...Did you finally get sleeved? I have lost 53 lbs to date, since, Feb 27th, 2012.... Welcome welcome
  22. Good for you!...I love this forum for the simple fact I can say what is on my mind and heart, and no one judges... This is one of the best support groups we have, and it happens throughout the day...so many answers to many questions and things come up we don't even think to ask about. The vetran sleevers are awsome. I too am only 7 weeks out was sleeved on 2-27-12 in Mexico by the best surgeon Dr. Aceves...I experienced NO>>>YES ZERO pain during my surgery and afterwards...wow was I lucky. I have only lost 52 lbs to date but I am swimming 3x a week and counting calories/protein/carbs and attempting to get in the liquids...very hard for me...And I work full time, and have 2 kids still at home and an unsupportive husband
  23. How do we make them stop!!! mine just thinks I'm being judgemental...One night at the Mexican restaurant, I shared chicken fajitas with my daughter....I had 5 little pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of shrimp and 1 tsp. of beans...while they gobbled up huge big plates of food....He says to me very loudly...well your being quite the piggy tonight...I was hurt, but I said back to him...SHALL I GET YOU SOME LITERATURE TO READ UP ON JUST EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE HAD DONE? Just cuz I had this surgery does not mean I will NEVER get to enjoy the finer foods in life!
  24. You Rock Your Sleeve! Good Job !!! Keep up the great loss!!
  25. I did not give in to him, nor have I for the past 7 weeks....He goes to the store and buys crap (candy bars and cracker jacks , twinkies, zingers, and fills up my beautiful fruit bowl....it is amazing he just doesn't get it. I have quit purchasing soda, sugar in any form other than Truvia....LOL I wish I could be a mouse in the corner to know what exactly he possibly can be thinking ...hmmm My wife just spent $9,000 on weight loss surgery and so lets eat chocolate, carmel, Cookies, crap etc...HELLO!!! I spent the money so I could lose weight, live longer, and out live you so you'll have a wife to take care of your sorry ass....I wish he could/would understand this. I do believe that even the kids have lost a pound or two during this last 7 weeks.
