FLYING after surgery
Hi- as Nice as losing weight is, and I know you are feeling Great... One should not fly... take a plane, car or bus... the stress on your arms would be tremendous.. just saying, at least mine would... stockings... those wonderful things... yes you need to make sure they fit right and absolutely no creases... using rubber gloves with fingerprints (dish gloves) smooth them babbys out, before and if you have to after an hour pull them up and make sure they are smooth again... (I know- been wearing 40mg. for 12 years I tossed all mine out, they didn't fit after surgery, I will not wear them again!

GETTING TUBES TIED
What is this thing of males afraid to get snipped.. Hi- Man HERE! afraid? no! was it uncomfortable- YES! mainly the embarrassment of the nurse handling the goods and the expected response, even in a cold office. (thinking back- not any worse than the colonoscopy before surgery) cost was less than the alternatives... recovery- pain 1 day, stretched it out to a week off the up side- wife has been hormone free and back to normalcy... BCP really made her pmsY more times than not. was in and out in one hour, maybe less... wife made me walk home (kidding) My advice to all married ladies here- get the Main Man in to chat with the doc. seriously a li'l snip is better than anything!

"Fried" Chicken Thighs
Just a note: chicken breast has more Protein than chicken thigh. also the thigh has more fat (why it is yummie and moist) you may want to consider that, when planning your meals. Bon- Appetite!

Awkward moment
Hi-I have been out 6 weeks... lost 3 sizes since surgery... I told them- it was GI surgery... (kept it generally) one person knows- hoping she keeps quiet- but no big deal if she doesn't... it's done... it happened... FMLA protects us... I personally didn't tell people the story- one will say something and another will blow it out of proportion... next thing ya know I had cancer... the thing is- when people ask me to taste something I will decline... some take it personally, at this point 3 tastes is my meal... can you work feeling stuffed like that? I can't.. I am gonna work on a transfer soon anyways... I want to be far away from food as possible!

Nausea? Vomitting?
Hi- at first it was from the surgery... three days later, soft foods, I was fine and then stage III was a set back... I went back to stage II for a week, then started with stage III again... no more nausea or vomiting but some things, like chicken, is hard to eat... tonight 4 bites of chicken... 2 bites of potato... these are small bites... the amount I eat, pretty much the size of my thumb... if it is softer foods- yogurt, cottage cheese... 1/2 cup still...

Chili Night!
Meg- this was the smallest batch I ever made I plan on shipping it home with my son...if he wasn't coming over today, I would make small cups of it and freeze it. the plastic ones with blue lids from glad bags(?) perfect size for one or two... the Protein must be super high, my wife made a burger patty, and topped it with chili... she only ate half... AS FAR AS TOFU... there is a product called "soyrizo" other than being high in sodium, I like it- spicey and great for adding spice... I will make a chili with Beans and soyrizo for my buddy that is vegan when he comes to town.

Chili Night!
I have done a lot of study on the healing powers of cayenne. Ulcers and other problems resolved by upping the intake of high Capsaicin type foods. Doesn't have to be cayenne - can be jalapeno, habanero... tobasco. anything with some heat. if your interested google < healing powers of Capsaicin>

Chili Night!
Hi- I wanted to share my quick chili recipe... I know we all have one, however maybe this will make you grab your recipe and make a batch... I boiled up 3 dried new Mexico chilies and let them steep.then I pureed and strained them.next I took steak , cut into small cubes and browned it with a li'l EVOO, diced onion and a big spoon of fresh garlic. while it was browning, I added my all purpose BBQ spice, extra oregano and ground cumin. when the spices were well cooked in, I added 2/3 bottle long board lager, brought to a boil and then added the chili tea. it is now simmering away....when meat is tender I will add: 1 can chopped green chilies 1 can diced tomato 1 can rinsed black Beans 1 can rinsed red beans then let simmer another hour or so...taste for seasoning correction and adjust... (no seasoning correction required) no salt added... finished with juice from a fresh squeezed lime. ( I have no cilantro.. I like fresh chopped cilantro added a few minutes before service)

~ Not Sure What To Do
hi- Everyone is different, and each of us made that decision for a reason... My wife is a RnY, I am a sleeve... we are achieving great results- by following the program. No matter what program you choose- the effectiveness will depend on how you embrace that program... why do people gain that weight back? they simply don't follow the program... The surgery is for life... big decision... I took that in the same light as I took the oath of marriage... for life! Vitamins for life... restrictions for life, be it a type of food or the amount... in turn I am getting/staying healthy and hopefully live longer. I am 50 years old... At 36, you have some things going for you... Youth... a lot less mental and physical issues... I am so glad you came here to think about things...May you find YOUR path and have the life you want... Neil

"Fried" Chicken Thighs
Hi- that recipe makes my mouth Water... too bad I am on softs still Pre-op, I came up with a Baked "fried" chicken recipe. for those that are interested in no added fats... I also used bonless/skinless thigh meat. I take fat free Italian dressing and marinate the chicken for a few hours or overnight. then take the soaked chicken and bread it with seasoned bread crumbs- I used Panko. pat both sides until coated well- shake off excess. you can use the bag trick... lay out in dish, one layer and bake at 350* about 40 minutes- it will turn a nice golden brown. I also did this with a telepia,

I doubt I will be hungry tonight, as soon as I digest i have about 20 oz. left to drink...

Friends told me to slow down :(
Hi- only you know how much YOU should be doing... don't let the lil voices in your head slow you down! you can do more than YOU think.... as far as people and good intentions, smile. I had a person in my 14 week group tell me I'm loosing too much weight too fast... (that is why I am there?) and I exercise too much... according to my magnificent Dr. I was doing everything right... (lol- did he know I drank some wine?) She told the class she hadn't lost any weight and she was on pre-op diet... obviously she has issues... Why do people try to sabotage ??? congrats on your walking... our teacher in class suggested that same thing, 2 houses each day- we worked up to 3 miles per. total of 70 miles walked pre -op. now- it's back to the grind- need to walk...
